Accomodating Staff
My friend and I enjoyed our stay at the Amalfi mostly because of the great guest service at the hotel. The staff was friendly and accomodating in every situation and went out of their way to do so. The room was a little bit smaller than we expected - but the beds were comfortable and we had enough space for our needs. Good location too as we felt close to just about every part of the city that we wanted to check out.

Nice value for a Chicago getaway!
We planned a little getaway to take our children to the American Girl doll store and to see the sites. The Amalfi welcomed the children and was very accomodating to our family. This hotel had a very friendly staff and a great location.

Short drive from hotel
Plan on getting to the museums early in the day. We waited until early afternoon to visit Shedd Acquarium and faced a 90 minute+ wait...in the rain. Needless to say we abandoned that idea and took in some of Chicago's finest....shopping!

5 Star Hotel at an unbeatable price!
Checking in was a breeze! I love the front desk concept at Amalfi. Makes you feel like you're in a top class hotel. Complimentary DVD's were a big plus for my daughter, and the cocktail reception in the lounge was a great beginning to our night on the town. Will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Chicago!

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
Valet parking (with in/out privileges) at the hotel is pretty expensive ($44.00/day). If you don't need the car during your stay, there's parking garages within a block or two that will save you quite a bit on parking fees.

Magnifico Amalfi!
The hotel is in a perfect location with easy access to the highway, the river, Lake Michigan, and must-see attractions like Sears Tower, etc. Awesome restaurants nearby. The beds were simply the most comfortable I have ever slept on.

Worth spending a little extra
While some of the pretensions of the place were ridiculous (There isn't a concierge, there's an experience designer. There isn't a maid, she's a comfort stylist. I was surprised they called the valet just a valet and not a "vehicle storage technician"), it really was a comfortable hotel and a great value. The room was large compared to other boutique hotels of comparable price, and the complimentary cocktail reception and breakfast were nice touches. The hotel is in a perfect area for grown-ups wanting to go out for some fun; theatres, bars, are all within walking distance. Most importantly, the bed was comfortable. Great hotel, will stay again.

In Hotel
The hotel holds a complimentary cocktail reception for guests, so if you're the drinking type you can save some dough on drinks by popping in for that before going out to dinner.

Clean and Friendly
Valet service was prompt so was the check in service. The room was clean and up to date. There seemed to be an abundance of pay later extras added in to the room (bottled water, books, cd's etc). I suppose some people like that stuff but I'd rather not see them "pimping" the bottled water slippers and robes... if I am interested in that stuff I'll inquire about it. I have found more "mistakes" on my hotel bills for those items and have learned to dislike them being in my room at all.

Classy and Wonderful
We came to the Amalfi for a Bachelorette party at Howl at the Moon. We arrived at the airport at 9:30am and were hoping to check in early or at least drop off luggage so we could explore the city for a couple of hours. we got to the hotel a little after 10am and they have no problems checking us into our room early. The rooms were beautiful with a great view. We were able to put an airmatress and sleep 6 girls so our cost stayed even lower. The beds were soft and clean. The bathroom was rommie enough for all the girls to get ready for the party. The showers were clean, strong and beautifully decorated. We loved the room. The staff was helpful and firendly. They allowed us to leave a key for another member of our party. They also made reservations for dinner for 12 girls just down the street which was very helpful later. Dinner was a short walk away. The bar for the party was only a couple blocks from the restaurant as well as the hotel so transportation was not needed. We really enjoyed our short stay and we will definitely keep the Amalfi Hotel for later chicago visits.

Great Get Away
My wife and I stayed on a Saturday night, very quick check in and AWESOME price from Orbitz! The mini bar was very over priced, $4.00 for a candy bar. But it wasn't a big deal there is a 7/11 right around the corner. The hotel is very modern and very very clean. We loved our room, although we had a view of the brick building next to us we weren't really expecting anything spectacular. Great restaurants very close.

Plunge into Chicago from here.
This hotel is convenient to all that the loop and the Magnificent Mile have to ofer. My room was comfortable and attractive; though, it didn't have much of a view. They free wi-fi was sometimes out of service, but it still beat the $15/day rip-off often encountered in equally comfortable Hotels. The complimentary cocktail hour is a nice offering, but the lounge could use a window or two!
