VERY OVERPRICED

If you're going to be staying in Ketchum, I highly recommend looking elsewhere. The "king bed" was 2 twin beds pushed together with an uncomfortable connector in the middle that made the bed have a large hump. The room was dingy and everything was outdated and musty. There was a shortage of outlets and we had to choose between having the light plugged in or the alarm clock. There is no maid service and you have to bring extra towels to use in the pool since they don't provide any. The pool was dirty and had tons of bugs floating around in it anyway. There was a very large jacuzzi tub in our room, but the thing looked so dirty that we didn't even want to use it. There is also no AC unit, which would be fine if we weren't staying there in the summer. Even with the small desk fan and the window open the whole way, we hardly got any sleep because the room was so hot and stuffy. We also booked a "deluxe room" which was supposed to include a microwave and mini fridge, but it had neither. The staff was very friendly, but that is literally the only good thing about this place. For the same price, we could have stayed down the street at the Best Western Kentwood Lodge (where our friends stayed) which had much cleaner, nicer rooms and an ACTUAL king bed. Please don't book this waste of money!

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

The best place to eat is the Pioneer Saloon. Most of the other restaurants turn into night clubs at night, but the Pioneer stays open as a restaurant and has AMAZING food and huge serving sizes. We liked it so much, we ate there 2 nights in a row.

Our Fun Adventure in Ketchum

Went to Sun Valley/Ketchum in order to do some cross country skiing in one of the most wonderful spots to do this sort of thing. Prebooked one bedroom condo which was very well located and the town is very walkable--didn't seem to be more than 8 blocks in any direction and they have free shuttle buses to take people to the slopes. Very nice local movie theater at about 6.50 senior rates. Although The condo unit was spacious, the thermostats were very quirky and it usually seemed either too warm in the unit or a little chilly. While my wife had a normal sized pillow, I had a mini pillow which was not the greatest. While there, we signed up for a sleigh ride. The sleigh help up to 18 people and was pulled by two of the largest horses on earth. We went about 40 minutes through the woods to a restaurant for a, although a little costly, wonderful meal and then back on the sley. This was at night and it was literally freezing cold. We were bundled up, however, and were provided blankets, as well. The night sky/stars was the most wonderous thing we have ever seen. All in all, a great 5 day get-away.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

We did our cross country skiing at the local Nordic Center about two miles from Sun Valley. Used a free local shuttle to take us. Although it cost about $35 per person for rental of equipment and trail pass per day, the trails are wonderfully groomed, there were relatively few other skiiers around and many different trails of varying skill levels to choose from.
