Suited Our Need
Hotel on the Falls is situated next to a nice trail that parallels the falls. We were booked into a one-bed room, which the clerk readily switched to a two-bed room, located in the "other" building. This room was small, with a shabby feel, and the a/c didn't work. When I called the front desk, the clerk quickly offered a repair or a move to yet another room, in "the tower". I opted for the room change. The ground floor room was nicely appointed for wheelchair access (which I didn't need, but appreciated that it really was wheelchair accessible, and not just pretending to be) and, while not luxurious, was clean and spacious. I was within walking distance of several eating establishments. While in Idaho Falls, I was struck by the niceness of the natives. Cars not only didn't honk, but they actually stopped to let pedestrians cross. I loved being able to walk by the falls in the cool of the morning. The tower of Hotel by the Falls makes a great reference point, too, when moving around Idaho Falls. I never felt "lost". While the hotel is not new, the staff is very accommodating. I would have liked the convenience of an on-site breakfast, but the walk by the falls more than compensated.

Not sure how this is rated highly...
Outdoor entrance, OLD, OLD rooms with a TV the size of a microwave and located in a corner of the room you can't see from the bed. I wouldn't return.

Business trip
I doubt I'll be coming back to this hotel the next time I stay in Idaho Falls. The staff at the front desk lacked customer service skills and it wasn't a welcoming experience. Rooms are very dated, the shower leaked, and I questioned the cleanliness of the floor.

VERY DISAPPOINTED
Called hotel and told them my mother has a hard time walking and would like to be close to an enterance. They stuck us on the 2nd floor halfway distance. When I went to complain to [...] the manager they said they were booked and no other rooms were available. Did not care about elderly people at all. My mother took 15 minutes to get up the stairs and another 10 min to walk to the room. No ice machine close. Staff unworkable. They would not open both gates to the swimming pool. Room was alright. Will never stay at the Red Lion ever again.

We were there for our first honeymoon in seven years and to see family and the fireworks show, this place that we stayed in had unpleasant showers, the toilet was hard to flush and we did not get the room that we requested. basically it was not what we had expected and we were unhappy
