Motel 6 Waterloo

Nothing fancy - fortunately I didn't need to spend time here other than sleeping. WiFi was good. Pool looked nice, but didn't get a chance to use. I arrived late and left early so can't say how the breakfast or coffee service was.

We were in Waterloo to visit relatives and this hotel provided all the after visiting amenities we could have wanted. The hot tub was a little too hot but on a cold night, it was relaxing anyway. We loved this hotel for low cost and convenience to a grocery store, fast food and gas station. This hotel was relatively new and we will definitely stay again. We have stayed in more upscale motels in the area and have been disappointed.

Plumbing was bad, the beds were itchy. No continental breakfast just stale coffee. Soda machine was empty, night manager was rude.

I can do without the small amenities like shampoo, conditioner and hairdryer. After all this is a budget room. But, when it comes to basic common maintenance and peace and quiet, I cant' do without those. We were on the ground floor but the window wouldn't shut all the way so there was no way to lock it. The light bulb for the lamp between the beds was burned out. The heat lamp in the bathroom was an empty socket. But the worst thing was being awakened at 2:00am by loud thumping and banging from the room above me. I tried to call the front desk but of course the phone was broken. I had to get out of bed and go to the front desk. There I talked to a woman who said she had just been up there to warn them about the noise. I told her it was still going on. All she told me was that it was hotel policy to give them 5 minutes to quiet down. I asked her if I was expected to get up again to complain to her in 5 minutes since my phone wasn't working. She just told me there was nothing she could do. I spent another hour listening to the loud thumps and bangs before it finally stopped. I will absolutely never stay at a motel 6 again!!!!

As Motel 6s go, this one is just fine. It's cheaper than any motel in the area but it's nothing special. If you just need a clean, good-sized room that's reasonably quiet for the night, this will work fine. I liked access to free WiFi best.

The Motel 6 was very clean and comfortable. The pool area was close to our room. It was nice. Our room had a refridgerator which was great! The location of the motel was also a benefit because of the close proximity of downtown Waterloo and Cedar Falls. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful as well!
