AmericInn Okoboji

We were very pleased with our stay. We had the Des Moines Suite. Wish there had been a second chair in the room, but we just brought one in from the outside patio. The price I got on the room was perfect. Because of that, we chose to stay in Okoboji instead of staying in Spencer which is where we were visiting family at. Well worth the drive everyday. The breakfast was wonderful, but we really enjoyed the pool table that was in the pool room. Used it every night of out stay. Would highly recommend, and would gladly stay there again if the price is right again.

We arrived late and were warmly greeted and the hotel was very full but very quiet and comfortable. Great fall weather and enjoyed outdoors and good shopping and as always great places to eat.

Enjoyed our stay. Beds were very comfortable and really enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi. Would of liked to have had a work out room, but that would not keep me from coming back. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Pleasant, nice staff,clean room. Rates weere high because of Victory Rally. Nice surrounding area.

I have stayed at this place twice before and never had any issues. The staff this particular weekend in August was very rude and had poor customer service skills.I had booked a room for my parents who were visiting from 3 hours away and just staying the weekend. They arrived about a half hour eary and were told their room was not available at this time, previous stays I had been able to use our room up to three hours prior "Guaranteed Check-In" time. Even on the 4th of July weakend.Once in the room the air conditioner leaked. There was water all over the floor and and it smelled "musty" in the room. When my parents asked to change rooms the hotel stated that no other rooms were available.To top things off the room was way overpriced in the first place, which I was willing to pay for a touristy weekend, but to top it off my parents were also charged an additional tax for the room [...], which I've never had happen before. The hotel could have offered us some kind of discount for our inconvenience.I know this was just one incidence of poor quality because I have stayed here without problems before. Just put your foot down until you get what you are paying for. There are plenty of other hotels in the area that I could stay at for the same, if not better price!

My dad and I stayed for 2 nights for a fishing tournament. The hotel staff was very helpful. They gave us the room of our choice, and also made very good suggestions for resaurants in the area. The hotel was clean and VERY quiet, which was good since we had to get up at 4am! The hotel is also centrally located between Spirit Lake and Okoboji, and that gives you good access to everything but gets you out of the heavy traffic in the Okoboji area proper. Rooms were pretty standard, but the beds were extremely comfortable. We didn't use the pool area, but it was very nice, with a high wood-beamed ceiling and even a pool table. The pool did seem like it might be a little small if the hotel were full. The hotel offers a continental breakfast, but we didn't have it, since it opened at 6am, and we were already fishing at that hour! I would definitely stay here again for the price we paid ($99/night).
