...it's a real deal. Friendly, helpful staff. The room was fine -- not elegant, but just what I needed. And the location was good for me.

Gross!
Hotel was dirty! We did not let my son go swimming because the pool area seemed extra dirty! Hallways were super cold like the heat was not on in the hallway at all, our curtain was holey and was being held together with binder clips, the mattresses were extremely old and way too soft, and the bedding was very old as well.

friendliest staff anywhere
Manager Jerry is the most congenial, hospitable host imaginable. I observed him making not only my party, but all the other guests as well, feel like old friends and guests in his home. A wonderful employee! All the other staff members were also friendly and hospitable.

Not good, try elsewhere
The hotel is run down and old. If I could rate it less than one star I would. The rooms smell of bug spray and the hallways are very hot. Upon entering the bathroom I was greeted by silverfish bugs on the floor and the plumbing did not work very well. The light over the sink did not always function. Upon arriving I was also "gouged" for an extra $100.00 for a reservation mix up that was Travelodge's fault. Drive past this hotel to another.

I liked the door directly to the outside so I could take our dog out at night when she needed to go. The breakfast was good. The room was clean and nice. When I asked for extra blankets there was no problem from the staff, he was really nice and got them for me right away.

Boilermaker Bob
Ants, cockroach, do not stay here!
Went to basketball game and spent time antique shopping and stayed for 2 nights at the Travelodge in Iowa, City.Was not given the reservation we requested [...]We had ants and cockroaches for 2 days in the bathroom, internet was down, tv cable system was down, remote did not work and was not a battery. Looked like a lot of remodeling going on and our room was done very poorly. There was one very condescending employee who did not believe we had those problems. We were treated very rudely. Breakfast was of poor quality and sparce. We are not negative and chronic complainers either.Would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. Stay away. Iowa City has many nice places to stay.

Taking advantage of a younger person
I made this reservation for my 25 year old daughter. When she arrived she found out that the motel had overbooked due to a high school sporting event. The first two rooms that she was given were under construction (missing sink &/or toilet). They told her the only other room available was a king size bed and charged her an additional $25 dollars (original room was $51). We are trying to get our money back.

Definatly not for family
The bed was uncomfortable, The chair at the work area had a nail sticking out, ripped my pants on it and the chairback kept falling off. The bathtub was a mess when I checked in. Not impressed by this hotel at all, would not stay here again.

not bad, but nothing special
Overall it was fine. It's what you would expect for $60.00. had a decent hot tub but pool was small(4 ft max depth). They had a continental breakfast which was nothing great, but not bad. rooms were clean but nothing special.
