Restful Visit
We were in town for the GoodGuys Heartland Car Show at the State Fairgrounds. Many of the motels had previously been booked up with the many activities in Des Moines over the 4th of July weekend. We ended up at Stoney Creek Inn and Conference Center. We arrived earlier than the normal 3:00PM check-in time and after being greeted by the friendly desk staff our room was ready and waiting. It had been in the upper 90's the day before and nearly as warm the day of our check-in, but the room was nice and cool. The room was clean and well furnished. Bathroom was arranged nicely and well stocked with clean towels. All the necessities were available. Although the motel was probably full or nearly so, the rooms were quiet and had a nice TV with many channels. We also noticed the outdoor pool was very busy. We were unable to check out breakfast, but believe it was probably nice and in a very comfortable room by the front desk. The "woodland" theme was carried out both indoors and out. The grounds, like the remainder of motel, looked well groomed and taken care of. The motel is close, close enough to walk, to entertainment and restaurants. The motel is also right on Interstate for quick access to the remainder of the town and surrounding areas. We will put it on our list of good places to stay in Des Moines.

For the price of the room, and to offer a stuffed animal seemed a bit of a stretch to make a buck ($20 in this case).
