Elegant, historic skywalk hotel welcomes famous and non-famous alike
The elegant Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel has hosted presidents and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A classy lobby with a chandelier welcomes famous and non-famous guests. Its BOS restaurant serves contemporary Midwest cuisine. There's a bar and coffee shop serving Starbucks coffee. The lobby is under construction. The picture is very misleading. It is actually drab, cold, and bare. I almost didn't recognize the front desk. Breakfast was also disappointing - hoping for salmon, got cold scrambled eggs. The room was spacious and wonderful. We got a free upgrade. Service was wonderful. Sky walk to restaurants was perfect

Comfortable quiet room. Friendly staff
Our room was quiet, comfortable.Hotel soap and shampoo was of very good quality. Elevator was fast and solid.The building was old in a historical sense.Wonderful art deco touches in the buildings design. The staff was so courteous and professional. They were very helpful answering all our questions. The hotel was conveniently located for our needs.

Great old hotel in the heart of the city
We were surprised to find a nice size room, the result of a tasteful remodel where two very small rooms were combined apparently by removing the center wall, resulting in a bathroom for each of us- one with a luxury shower, the other with a tub. Great attention to detail, and the best hotel in the city to stroll to the civic center, Court Avenue nightlife, and Saturday morning farmers market.

Hotel room was nice and clean. Was nice having two separate bathrooms for a couple. Staff was friendly and attentive. Nothing really to do in hotel as far as bars or restaurants, although they have them, there was no one in them. Good downtown location. Overall, if you want to be in downtown Des Moines I would recommend this hotel and I would stay there again.

Great old hotel
I was lead to believe by my booking on cheap tickets that I had reserved a room with two beds but when I got there, the only normal rooms available were kings. They upgraded me to a very nice spacious suite with two double beds for no extra charge even though it was a busy graduation weekend. Excellent service.

On the weekend, park at the meters which are free Friday @ 6pm through Sunday. That will save you from paying for valet or the garage.

Very cool hotel. Well ...
Very cool hotel. Well kept, very nice staff. I had an awesome corner room, comfortable bed, couldn't really hear others in the hotel. It was very close to Court Avenue with great restaruants and bars. I loved this hotel!!

A comfy stay
Nice clean white soft sheets, duvet, & pillows. Housekeeping was a bit noisy very early (before 8 am), but I enjoyed the comfy bed anyway.
