For the price it was a completely acceptable hotel to stay in. The staff was very nice and courteous. The rooms were clean and everything was in order. the area around the DSM Airport has all the shopping and restaurants you would need. My big complaint was the walls were so thin you could here the conversations of the left, right, and the neighbor above you. One night I hardly slept because the people above me decided to pace the night away and drop stuff on the floor 40 times. I decided not to complain to the hotel staff because what can they do about it anyway. But be warned if you have the misfortune of getting loud guest next to you, you can forget about sleeping.

Don't stay there
The only good thing about this hotel is the close proximity to the airport. Other than that, it is terrible. I was planning to just spend the night and catch my early flight. I did not sleep at all! I honestly believe that there is organized prostitution going on at this place. There were cars arriving and leaving all night long, people were yelling in the street and indoors and the place where all the action was happening was right below my room. This place needs to be shut down!

What do you expect
the staff was very nice and helpful. The bed wasn't the best but it served it's purpose. I will more than likely be starting here again.

simple but functional
Just needed to spend the night and it got the job done. Room wasn't well stocked when we got there but a quick call to the front desk took care of it.

uncomfortable!!!
The beds were extremely uncomfortable. You could feel the springs in the mattress-definately not a good night's sleep!! In the evening there was NO hot water. Thankfully the hot water was working in the morning. We will NOT be staying here again and I would not recommend it to anyone. Which is too bad, because the staff was very nice-friendly and helpful.

Seven State Visit
Being in my twilight years, this seven state odyssey was intended to be my last visit of family and friends. Since the 1970s, I have used Motel 6 wherever possible because I know that the accommodations will be uniformly good. I have seldom been disappointed. My primary complaint is that Motel Six does not penalize people who smoke in the room. This hotel chain has come up with very good ways of covering up the smoke odor. However, I sleep with a CPAP machine and its filters tell me the truth, "Someone has smoked in the room." Some hotels penalize clients as much as $300 for this infraction. The fact of the matter is that the smoke odor penetrates the blankets, carpeting and remains on the wall unless the walls, linens etc. are washed. The service was outstanding in the South Des Moines Motel Six. Staff was friendly and helpful. All in all, Motel Six was a very fine final destination to a great trip

Short drive from hotel
This hotel is less than a mile to the airport. It costs approximately 4-6 dollars for a taxi to drive a person to the desired airline drop off locationl.-- I normally turn my rental car in the night before my flight thus avoiding this pressure and confusion on the day of my flight.

Very Frequent Traveler
Disgusting. Avoid.
Dirty rooms. Motel falling apart. Didn't feel safe. Paper thin walls. Flea-bag motel.
