Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites DES MOINES-NORTHWEST

We planned our stay for a one night family trip to adventureland and I was told that the hotel was relatively close to Adventureland as well as Jordan Creek. I booked the 2 queen bed room and when we checked in the room was WAY smaller than it showed on the website. Plus there were many little kids running all up and down the halls with no supervision. Without even unpacking I called the front desk about an upgrade and we were moved to the Suite. Yes it was nice, but then when we took the kids swimming the next day, the pool area was full of pizza box's and beer cans from the night before and the Hot Tob did not work. There were no towels and was not clean. I am a seasoned traveler and looked at this room also through my "priority club" and was not satisfied with our stay at all!!

The hotel was clean and updated, but... it has been a long time since it was built, and newer hotels are more comfortable. The bathroom was remodeled, but was very small. The air conditioner was old so it was loud and would not turn off. Lots of noise from the hall because the room doors did not fit well. The bed was comfortable and clean. The staff at the desk looked very over-worked and tired. They got the job done, but appeared cold and without that welcome smile going all the way to the eyes.

Check in staff was apparently overworked, thus were unable to give that needed attention to a weary traveler. There were 3 at the desk; I selected the one who seemed more up-beat and on-top of things. The room had the smell of a masked cigarette; the carpet was ripped and patched; walls were paper thin. We selected this hotel because it had a 4-star rating. We travel alot and this was certainly substandard to that sort of rating.

You could stay elsewhere, pay more, and not get as much. The room was clean, the staff are polite, and you can walk to a Bennigans for dinner. What's not to like? The hotel offers things like a good functioning business center and free fax. I didn't use the bar, swimming pool or the laundry service so I can't comment on those.

Hotel is very modern, very well taken care of. Rooms were great, very well decorated, large flat screen t.v.s. Hotel had everything you needed. Pool and Whirlpool were wonderful. They are large and well maintained. Staff was friendly. Check in and out was very fast. It is a pet friendly hotel. Great safe parking. Safe neighborhood.

We arrived late at night, and check in went smoothly. Small parking lot in front of hotel, but more spaces behind the hotel. The one glaring problem was the elvator. We were on the 4th floor and only 1 of the 3 elevators was working. This was a bit of a pain as many people were leaving at the same time we were and we had to wait for the elevator and then when it opened up it was full of other travelers. We ended up only using the elevator for heavy suitcases and took the stairs for all other visits to the car.

The room was clean, the staff was friendly, and the stay was pretty much uneventful and quiet...just what I needed. My only complaint was that the shower faucet was difficult to operate and it seemed as though it was on the verge of breaking.

The room was clean and well maintained. The staff was very nice and this was a good deal for the money for a family of 3. We traveled with a 3 year old and needed to have a microwave and refrigerator and we were easily accommodated. The Bennigans restaurant as part of the hotel was a wonderful. The mall is within 5 minutes driving distance. We enjoyed our stay.
