The toilet was clogged and ran. The bath tub stopper did not work. All I wanted to do after driving 710 miles from Denver ... was to soak in a bathtub. I could not do so without holding something over the drain with my foot. Not too relaxing.

The host put me in a room across from the laundry and said I could move the next day. I did move as it was quite noisy. The ... next room they gave me was listed as non-smoking but smelled heavily of smoke. The carpets felt grimy under my feet. To top things off on my last day the maid came into my room as I was dressing even though I had clearly displayed the do not disturb sign. The staff was friendly but the hotel was not the best, and I felt that little attention was given to airing out the smoky room. I won't be returning.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn express while visiting my daughter. She is a student at Drake University and the hotel is ... across the street. I was impressed with the accomadating staff and cleanliness of the hotel. As they were locating my reservation, they offered me a cookie and asked about my room preference. The room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. The complimentary breakfast had quite a variety, everthing from bacon and eggs to cereal. My car broke down in the parking lot and the extremly courteous staff allowed me to check out at 1:30. I will always stay at this hotel while in Des Moines. It's an excellent value with its proximity to Drake, comfortable, breakfast and accomadating staff.

wonderful stay

This was the best free breakfast I've ever been to. The hotel was very comfortable. Being next to a university I was afraid ... it would be roudy, but it was very quiet. Shopping is a short drive into the city.

The Holiday Inn Express is located in a quiet area yet quite close to other amenities. The hotel and our room was very ... well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful and we would return again if the opportunity arise.

The Holiday Inn Express at Drake was in a great location with easy access to many dining opportunities. The room was large ... and very clean. The beds were fantastic with pillow tops and several pillows. The room was set up for a business man having a desk and internet access.

The hotel is just finishing a complete refurbishing and the rooms were excellent. They are quite large, the furnishings were ... good and the beds were great. The bathrooms was also very nice. It was a great value for the money. The location was perfect for us also. It is in an older part of town but close to downtown. We would definitely stay there again.

Great place for campus visits

We stayed at the Holiday Inn as part of a spring break college tour. We were greeted and check in was smooth. The room was ... comfortable and the staff friendly. It was very convenient to be almost across the street from Drake University. The staff recommended eating at the Drake Diner which was also good. We would recommend this to anyone in town for a visit to Drake.
