Holiday Inn Express DES MOINES-AT DRAKE UNIVERSITY

visiting campus for daughters orientation. had late night activities & early morning meeting. Perfect location for both. very friendly staff & wonderful full breakfast

We arrived around midnight and the desk clerk was out back smoking with what appeared to be a campus security guard. I wish he would have been there the next night when my car was one of three broken into. One was in the handicap space RIGHT in front of the lobby. The officer said the clerk didn't know how to view the security tape and little could be done. I contacted the manager and he said they couldn't do anything for us regarding the cost since we booked with Orb*tz. He credited my credit card for $50. We drove back to Chicago with plastic in the window. There was a spider in the tub, the vending machines were spotty at best and the carpet felt wet under foot. We come to Des Moines a few times a year and are staying downtown from now on. Park in that lot at your own risk.

The hotel staff made this trip. They were friendly and accomodating to all my request.

We've stayed at this hotel several times over the years and it has consistently been clean and comfortable. The staff has always been courteous and helpful.

Driving up to the hotel, I thought, "I am in the right place?" But once inside, the staff was warm and welcoming, the room was HUGE and clean, and the complimentary breakfast was well beyond the coffee and donuts I've experiences at other places.

Close to Drake University, this hotel is cozy and quiet. The room was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel.

Conveniently located on Drake University campus.

The toilet was clogged and ran. The bath tub stopper did not work. All I wanted to do after driving 710 miles from Denver was to soak in a bathtub. I could not do so without holding something over the drain with my foot. Not too relaxing.

The host put me in a room across from the laundry and said I could move the next day. I did move as it was quite noisy. The next room they gave me was listed as non-smoking but smelled heavily of smoke. The carpets felt grimy under my feet. To top things off on my last day the maid came into my room as I was dressing even though I had clearly displayed the do not disturb sign. The staff was friendly but the hotel was not the best, and I felt that little attention was given to airing out the smoky room. I won't be returning.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn express while visiting my daughter. She is a student at Drake University and the hotel is across the street. I was impressed with the accomadating staff and cleanliness of the hotel. As they were locating my reservation, they offered me a cookie and asked about my room preference. The room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. The complimentary breakfast had quite a variety, everthing from bacon and eggs to cereal. My car broke down in the parking lot and the extremly courteous staff allowed me to check out at 1:30. I will always stay at this hotel while in Des Moines. It's an excellent value with its proximity to Drake, comfortable, breakfast and accomadating staff.
