Needs some work

Went to Iowa City to watch the Hawkeye Football Game, obviously it was overpriced. Went to the restaurant attached to hotel, food was ok at best, but cockroach on the wall next to me, kind of ruined the meal. There are quite a bit of problems with the room, air conditioner/heater quit after a few minutes of running. Smoke alarm battery chirped, which they fixed. Bath room had a wonderful assortment of molds growing where there was grout, some was missing. Pool had no ventilation and about choked you to sit in there. Other than that the breakfast was good in the morning and the lobby was nice.

good buy for the money

we were there for freshman orientation at the university and really only slept there. The bed was very comfortable compared with other hotels I've stayed in. The staff was very kind, the only problem was we had two room keys and only one would work, we got two others and the same problem. Besides that it was a good stay.

Location convenient

We were visiting for U of Iowa graduation. Room rates were very inflated at all hotels over normal rates. But rooms were fine and location is good. We have stayed here before and would stay again.

disappointed this time around

Have stayed at this hotel before and the stay has been great. This time however was less than desirable. The beds were uncomfortable, cold showers the first morning and the television was fuzzy. It was a football weekend so it seemed the staff was too busy to worry about such 'small' issues like hot water and a television that could not be watched without causing headaches.

My review of Hampton Inn Iowa City/Coralville

The Hampton Inn in Colarville was exactly what we needed. It is very close to the Iowa City Hospital. And the resturant next door is open late and had very good food. The only drawback was the fitness center had only three machines and was busy the entire weekend.

Comfort and Cleanliness

When I checked in to the hotel. I didn't expect much. I travel with my daughter for her basketball tournaments all over the midwest. Usually when we get to the hotel we are to tired to take advantage of all the amenities. I was overwhelmed by the cleanliness of the room I stayed in. Even when most hotels say that the rooms are smoke free there is usually a residue of cigarette smoke. This room had none of that. From the size of the room to the comfortable king size bed I was more than impressed. How did the hotel know that I was a pillow person? There seemed to be about 50 pillows on the bed and the softest mattress pad. Even though I didn't get a chance to go to the hotel restaurant, I looked at the menu with affordable prices and wished that I could have. There seemed to be a lot of happy faces coming from there. Next time I will definitely take advantage of it.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

The freeway was a turn off the driveway of the hotel. The next exit ramp was a mall and several strip malls that have everything a traveler could want or need.
