Wildwood Lodge West Des Moines

Me and my husband stayed at this hotel for a wedding we had in the area. The Pros: Nice breakfast, waffles, bagels, fruit, etc. Comftorable bed and spacious room. Nice lobby area, hotel has a homey feel to it.There are a few restaurants within close walking distance. Cons: hot tub was out of order the whole weekend, there was a mirror outside of the one in the bathroom, however, no outlet within reach. The bathroom fan that was on the same switch as the light was quite loud, nothing major. The staff was average as far as greeting and checking in.

I stayed at the Wildwood Lodge this weekend while in the Des Moines area for my son's soccer tournament. Because of the soccer schedule, I didn't get checked into the hotel until after 10 PM. It was dark and raining, and I did have a little trouble finding the hotel, but the next day in daylight, I could see that it really was pretty easy. The hotel representative behind the desk was friendly, helpful, and very courteous. My room was extremely roomy and comfortable. The refrigerator looked a little old and beaten up, but I didn't need it anyway. The bed was very comfortable and all of the soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion were in dispensers in the bathroom; it was convenient and efficient. The breakfast was very good with many choices. The morning desk clerk and another guest did seem to have some kind of conflict that put the clerk on edge, but I wasn't really involved in any of that. I didn't get a chance to use the pool, but I did go look at it and it looked very nice. Overall, it was a great experience and I will definitely stay again the next time I am in the Des Moines area.

We checked in late, but the staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was nice for the price.

Really liked this place. It is being well maintained. We had not stayed there for many, many years.

No complaints! Would for sure stay here again...only thing that could of been better is if there was a bar and restaurant on site!

very nice hotel, friendly staff, good breakfast in the morning. the rooms could use a small fridge compared to using ice . one complaint though was the second morning, the front desk lady was cleaning up the breakfast area while people were still eating breakfast.. like to say..get out of here NOW. very rude. some people were just reading the paper and she was flipping chairs up.

We enjoyed our stay here -the staff was friendly and breakfast was good. Would definitely stay here again.

Felt like a resort, the decor was beautiful! Room was clean. Waffle breakfast and all the other continental breakfast sides.

I was looking for a cheap but nice and comfortable hotel as I was travelling alone. I knew that I had booked a king room at a great price, but was surprised to find that I had a large jacuzzi tub. The bathroom had a walk-in shower the size of a normal bath tub as well. The bed was comfortable, and the room spacious. The room had a digital thermostat which was great as the weather was exceptionally hot when I was there. Breakfast was not great in my opinion, which is why I gave 4 stars. However, the hotel is near several restaurants so this wasn't a great concern. I would definitely consider staying here again.

A clean room with a comfortable bed and a nest of pillows! Appreciate the soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion dispensers that are easy to use and saves plastic trash. The complimentary welcome drink is a nice touch and the breakfast choices are multiple and tasty! The staff is friendly and helpful.
