The hotel is in a good location and in its day probably was outstanding. Otherwise everything was satisfactory. The staff ... was pleasant and attentive. The breakfast was the highlight of the stay.

I was used to rooms that are VERY clean, the bathroom, including the sink area, counter top, tub, etc. I usually stay at a ... Holiday Inn or The Marriott Hotel, but was willing to try this hotel this trip. I must say, when I order a NON-SMOKING room, I sure didn't expect to smell Cigarette Smoke every time I left my room to walk down the hallway or exit the elevator to return to my room. But these "bright" folks, I discovered later, decided to put Smoking rooms on the same floor WITH Non-Smoking rooms. Well Done........."NOT!!!" Then, when informing the Hotel Staff of my dissatisfaction, upon my check-out, I basically had to "ask" for some kind of credit for having to Breath this smoke for several days, even though the nice lady apologized many times for the experience. Of course, this even made me feel more uncomfortable, since I feel THEY should have been the one to Offer to credit me something for my extreme dissatisfaction. I don't feel I should have had to ask to be credited back for a room that failed miserably to meet the minimum standards of health for me when, as soon as I opened my door, I was forced to breath this "carcinogenic smoke" . Finally, after much discussion & having to request to speak with the Hotel Manager, he came out & said he would cover the expenses for the time I was there. He also stated that he understood how I felt, since he said he was also a non-smoker. However, he said they were planning on remodeling soon and that they would not be having smoking rooms on the same floor as non-smoking rooms in the future. I SURE WISH "I WAS INFORMED" OF THE CURRENT DECISION TO HAVE THESE ROOMS ON THE SAME FLOOR,................. BEFORE I BOOKED TO STAY HERE.

I have stayed at most of the hotels in the area, and it's better than the rest of the area hotels. It has the most to offer ... with night life, as well as pool and gym, and breakfast. Well worth the price!!!!

Would recommend to a friend!

Was in town for a wedding in Iowa City during the weekend. Most rooms were booked in Iowa City due to a commencement in ... mid-May so I choose this hotel. Less than 10 minute drive from the CID airport. About a half hour drive to Iowa City.Many of the Cedar Rapids attractions were still in repair after the floods from 2008. Cedar Rapids Museum of Art only had two rooms opened but there will be more exhibits within the next few months. Pleasant personnel, [...], directed me to a Marion Arts Festival. Very nice festival. The National Czech and Slovak Museum was closed.

This is my first experience at a Clarion Hotel. There are many hotels in the same area as well as fast food restaurants. It ... is located very close to major and minor highways so it is exceptionally well located.Shopping is 5-10 miles away depending on what you want. I enjoyed the entire stay here. Very good value for the price paid. I am returning later this month

The Clarion was a great place to stay if you are wanting to go see the Timberwolves or the Viking. The bar and the Breakfast ... buffet were both very nice.

Would recommend to a friend!

The staff were all very friendly. The lobby area was inviting and clean. The pool area was nice, but the entrance to the ... pool was old, paint was peeling. Rooms were nice, but smoking and non smoking rooms were on same floor, so hallways smelled of smoke. Otherwise, I would stay there again.

The Clarion Hotel was perfect for our needs. We had many planned activities and were constantly on the go. The staff were ... very friendly and helpful, especially the front desk personnel and the housekeeping staff. Our room was clean and comfortable. My husband spent time in the swimming pool and sauna and enjoyed it immensely. We were attending a reunion at the hotel and everything was very convenient. We would certainly stay here again and recommend it to our friends.

Frustrating

Mold in room, smelled bad entire time I was there. Room not cleaned about 3 out of 6 days. When it was cleaned, dirty glasses ... left, no clean one's put in room, coffee cups not changed. Ran out of toilet paper, called front desk over and over, after a couple hours, when out door to go to desk and found 2 rolls of paper left on floor at the next room. Full breakfast buffett style, good food, but get there early! Not much left closer to closing time. Only served M-F. The staff at the hotel were for the most part friendly, there were enough towels, and the hotel it conviently located, and quiet.
