Ankeny hotel outside of Des Moines, on I-35, with indoor pool
The Best Western Metro North sits off of Interstate 35 in Ankeny, a northern suburb of Des Moines. The two-floor hotel features an indoor pool, hot tub, fitness center and game room. Fine location for the cheap price
ordered pizza from a local place. Would have been nice to eat in the pool area. The adults had to keep walking back and forth to make sure kids were OK.

Super clean and friendly
From the bed linens to the pool this hotel was super clean - a nice surprise since this seems to be a slightly older hotel. The staff was consistently friendly and helpful. Beds were super comfy. No free breakfast buffet like most hotels are doing but the attached 50's style diner was delightful for breakfast, lunch and dinner with excellent food and a great menu! The location is right off of the main street of stores and restaurants. The only complaint is the lack of small amenities - some fitness center equipment was broken, shampoo and soap was the only thing offered free in the room, and the recliner in the room was broken and unusable. If you are o.k. with that, it's a great place to stay.

Value priced weekend
Room needed an update. Pool was nice that's why we chose this hotel but it didn't open until 10:00am. However my husband talked to the pool man and he opened early every day for us!! Housekeeping was very accomadating with extra pillows and coffee when asked. Overall it was a comfortable stay especially for the price!

Best Western Metro North review
Hotel was outdated. TV had very poor reception on most channels and the walls were thin enough to hear just about everything that was going on, especially in the hallway. Most hotels I have stayed at recently have had flat panel TVs with cable reception. The bed was not very comfortable. We both woke up with sore backs and not very rested.

Clean and well managed
When other hotels often have intrusive maid staff, and front desk clerks that aren't aware of what's going on even when one has reservations; this hotel was easy check in, comfortable stay, respectful and tactful maid staff, and overall just a calm and good experience. The diner adjacent to the hotel was wonderful for ordering into the room as well, and everyone seemed helpful.

Practically in the same parking area there is a Japanese restaurant that had fabulous food, kind and efficient staff, and the right price! Tokyo Steakhouse will always be a favorite spot for us during future trips to the greater Des Moines area!
