Good Stay

We had a good stay. Was working most of the time so not much time to do much other than sleep.

Good Stay...

We had a good stay. Right off the interstate and Dayton Ave - so a good place to stop when traveling through.

Should have stayed somewhere else.

We stayed at this hotel for RAGBRAI because it was close. The entire hotel smelled filthy. The door handles were all greasy. The windows were smudged. The toilet seat in our room was flimsy and we all almost fell in at one point. I would not stay here again.

WORST Customer Service EVER

I called this hotel yesterday afternoon to verify which location my reservation was at. I first called their Story City location, and the guy who answsered the phone there spoke very little English and couldn't seem to tell me which location my reservation was at. Then I called the Ames location and found out my reservation was there. Upon arriving I encounter yet another person who speaks so little English they were VERY unhelpful. He then tells me that even though they have rooms open I CANNOT switch rooms to one with TWO beds, which is what I requested when I reserved my room. [...] Then I had to pay an EXTRA $15.00 for a roll away for my brother, he swipes my card and tells me it was DECLINED, which it WAS NOT. He then REFUSED to run it again, even though I knew he was wrong and it wasn't declined because I had just used it 30 minutes before and knew there was money on the card. So another kid who speaks good english finally got my card to go through because the guy before him apparently can't enter the right credit card number into his own system. Then I was charged TWICE for the roll away. About 6AM this morning the pounding up and down the stairs and hallways started and went on until about 11am this morning when we finally said ENOUGH and checked out. There s NO sleep to be had at this hotel, the beds SUCK, the noise, the customer service from this so called manager, there was really nothing good about this experience. IF we were going to stay a second night I would have checked out of this hotel promptly and looked for a room in a different hotel. With in a block radius there was 6-7 other hotels from this Super 8 location. I will NEVER EVER stay at this location again, and will probably never again book into another Super 8 location. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had.

Traveled to Ames for a game. It was clean enough and worked for our short trip. Needs some updating, but it was fine.

Good location for the price

It is a very quaint hotel and the staff is very nice. Love the location and the cost is very afforable. The halls have a smell of old cigarette smoke and the rooms smell like a weird cleaning fluid but they are clean.

You Get What You Pay For

The staff was fine, but the room smelled unpleasant, and the hard water in the shower left you feeling slimy.
