Nice place
Fabio Sep 27, 2009
The stay was great and the Hotel is an excellent place if you have to stay in Ames. The only complain I have is the breakfast ... started too late during the week. If you are there for business 6:30am can be too late. In the weekdays was pretty common to have people waiting outside the restaurant in the morning. But the waiters and waitresses were very nice! Anyway, I strongly recommend it specially is you get a great deal from Orbitz

I am always happy when we stay at the Gateway. We never are placed near an elevator and the rooms are very quiet. I love ... that there are down comforters and the room is nice and clean. The staff is very friendly and never complain when we show up early for our room.

pleasant family weekend

My wife and I went to visit our son who is a student at Iowa State. The hotel is near where he lives and goes to school and ... is easy to reach off the interstate. It also allowed our dog to stay. This hotel handled the presence of our pet better than any other place we have been. While the dog was not allowed there, the Reiman gardens up the street are a treat.

Hotel Helped Orientation Go Smoother
Another ISU Mom Jun 9, 2009
The hotel was very clean, and quiet. We could not hear our neighbors or upstairs noise. We were in town for college ... orientation, and the quick check out made it easy to make our meetings. Clean towels were brought in, and beds were made after the first night. Whoever cleaned our room did a good job, and respected our belongings in the room. The soap that they leave for use in the bathroom is awesome. Has a bit of a citrus smell that is very nice. Vending machines were close, and ice machine worked. The hide-a-bed in the sofa was a twin size. There was a nice desk, with paper and envelopes for our use. The internet connection was strong, and we used two computers in the room. Shopping was close. Dining options are plentiful in the area. Very close to college. People in the area are very friendly. I would recommend this hotel to a friend or family member, and I will be staying here again.

There is a Wal-mart, Target and K-mart in the area, a short drive from hotel (next exit to East). Having a college student, it was good to know. Eating options are in the same area.

Back to School Family Visit
Sarah Aug 9, 2008
The Gateway hotel was great! My grandma and my mom stayed there and I had a choice to stay in my dorm or with them at the ... Gateway. Well I chose the Gateway! The room was warm and cozy with two beds and plush comforters. The bathroom was very clean and so was the room. There was a vanity area which was great because three women in one room with one mirror could have be disastrous. Everything we needed was in our room or close by. They had an ironing board and iron, coffee maker, and seats to relax. They had live music and a great restaurant with great food selections. Everything was wonderful! I would recommend this Hotel to everyone! And I did? my boyfriend and his parents stayed there the very next weekend.

Ronald Aug 20, 2007
The staff was always cordial, friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the excercise room, even though one of the treadmills was out ... of order. The room was extremely clean, as well as all of the common areas. My only problem was that I continued to have problems with my key card not working properly. The hotel staff quickly provided a new card, but it was a bit inconvenient to keep replacing the card.

Rosanne May 4, 2007
I was impressed with the Gateway in regards to customer service and staff accessibility. Everyone treated me as a VIP - nice ... to have. For a college town, there are not many choices for full service hotels - I applaud the Gateway for paving the way.
