When you're running low on options...

Very basic hotel; from the facilities to the 'continental breakfast'. Appears to be one of the older hotels in the vicinity. (Just a warning: set your expectations low and you won't be disappointed). Apart from a few other hotels, a Mexican restaurant, and a gas station, its pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Guess services directory was limited and non-informative. Though room was non-smoking you could pretty much tell that the hotel had many smoking rooms in one of the wings. As a result, the hallways and the room smelled like they had been smoked in many a time. Overall, if you have to stay a night or two (when visiting ISU or overnighting on a long road trip) its bearable but pending availability there are several other hotels in the vicinity that should treat you a little kinder.

Visiting Ames

I was visiting the ISU campus with my cousin. The hotel was neat & clean with a very accommodating staff. Everything was great, with the exception of the shower. The water pressure was lacking, leaving it hard to clean all the soap off one's self. Not to mention, the hot water was not as abundant as it should have been. Regardless, an enjoyable experience, overall.

Humid in Ames

The staff was very nice, they even were interested in the bathtub that was backing up and the tub stopper that almost ate my husbands foot. They were told about this and put the room out of there booking order until they could fix the problem. It didn,t help us, but at least they listened when we checked out. The room also had a musty smell to it. Other then that it was very nice.

There are many really neat places to eat in Ames. Just ask any of the students at ISU and they can direct you. The chain resturants are all there, but try the town ones and you will be surprised at how good some of them are.

indifferent

Checked in on Friday night the staff on hand was great, The AC did not work and it was to late to have maintence come in. The TV did not work and for some reason we only got 3 channels. When we reported it they were full and could not move us to another room. They told us to check in the morning when we left for work. When we did the mgmt said they would move us and when we got back from work and asked about it she told us that she had forgotten and the hotel was full again. No offer of anything

college orientation trip

Rooms were clean but old and tired. The front desk couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. They need to replace their cots.

Great Plains Sauce and Dough has great pizza! I was traveling with 3 young adults (2 of them male) and 3 small pizzas were way too much. We had over a pizza left. Share. They were unlike any pizza I have ever had before. It could have been called Great Sauce, Cheese and Dough. On Main Street which is a cute little downtown.

A nice place to stay

We were doing College Orientation. Though not near the college, it was very easy to get to from this hotel. Staff was friendly. Place was clean and nice. Though we were missing the shampoo and regular coffee for the coffee maker, I am sure they would have provided it quickly as they did when I requested an extra pillow.

Very happy with accomodations & check-in

At first I was worried what would happen when I arrived, since I did everything over the internet and did not know what the motel/room would look like. I found the check-in process to be quick & easy, the staff friendly and I was pleased with the room.
