RUN! TOO MANY BUGS!!!

Worst hotel experience ever!!! We were bitten by bugs every night during our stayed here. Had to run over to Longs Drugs and consult with the pharmacist about the bug bites. We even switched room down the hall, but the bugs kept biting us... Other things to note. The window A/C unit was too loud, the ceiling fan did not work, bathroom had inadequate ventilation, and the entrance door was broken. Initially, we were attracted to this hotel due to the price/location combination. But don't do it! I recommend staying on the upper South side of Maui instead.

The island of Lanai was nice and quiet. A day trip there is worth-wild, if you have the time and money.

Decent

Well this is definitely not a 5 star hotel. However, for the amount of time spent in a hotel room it was fine for me. The room was clean as well as the grounds. The cost of the hotel was by far the cheapest I had found and the restaurant/cafe on premises surprisingly had pretty good food too.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Mama's Fish House (Paia) - excellent food, very pricey, but a must. Fred's (Kihei) - Mexican, great food, reasonable prices, very friendly staff. Stella's (Kihei) - Burgers and sandwiches, reasonable prices, excellent food and drinks.

so so housekeeper

the housekeeper didn't put the new soap everyday even though I ran out the soap. I needed to go to the frontdesk to get a new one by myself, and the hotel didn't have the hair dryer in the room, it's a little bit inconvenient.

Maui Seaside Hotel

The hotel room was surprisingly large and spacious. It was very warm those days and the small air conditioner in the wall took 12-15 hours to cool the room and that was not overly cool either....just cool. It was a good thing I was staying more than one night or it would have never gotten cool. The reason it doesnt work is the a/c unit is at the ground and we all know that cool air falls and warm air rises...therefore all the cool air stayed at the ground level because thats where it goes! I did help the situation a small amount by reversing the fan and trying to bring the cool air up. The hotel has no beach. The bay/harbor where it sits is not swimmable and not good for snorkeling. It was nice to sit on their lounge chairs in the quiet zone to drink some wine and watch the rowers practice in the canoes. It is convenient to the airport and to shopping. The best surprise was the restaurant! It is called the Coconut Grill and it is attached to the restaurant. It is one of the best restaurants in Maui! It has fantastic food such as coconut shrimmp and chicken wraps with a thai theme that were out of this world! It also was one of the most reasonably priced restaurants on the island! Soooooo good and reasonably priced...even the locals eat there!

great start or end

The spacious room allowed us to spread out and get very comfortable. The garden and pool area are perfectly manicured and quite a nice surprise from the busy road in front. There is a good deal of road noise in rooms closer to the road. Great candies in the lobby and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Easy to get to all the nearby places and the airport, so it is a great place to stay if you're deciding where to go next, and in order to see other parts of the island before catching a flight.

A good place to stay

Overall the place was nice. pros: It is close to the airport, clean. cons: far from the center and beach. Since we rented a car, it was not that challenging to get to the places we needed, such as the Hana road. But if u are thinking of staying there without a car, it might be a bad idea.

Friendly Staff and Clean Rooms

The Maui Seaside Hotel has a very pleasant and welcoming staff. The rooms were clean but it is a dated facility with small rooms and limited parking which you need to pay $5 per day for. This would be a great place to stay if you come in late from the Kahalui Airport (OGG) or are leaving early the next morning otherwise this location wouldn't be the place to stay for your entire vacation. The beach and snorkeling opportunities in this area seem very limited and not that great. The west side of the island has the better beaches and resorts and it seemed the weather was also nicer on that side with a lot more things to do.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

If you are staying on Maui for awhile you can stock up at the nearby Costco and Wal-Mart with basic ammenities and food to save money. They a also have a large mall about a mile down the street from the hotel so if you forgot anything.
