simple and central

The focus of my stay was to discover Haleakala at sunrise and do some swimming and snorkeling. As a base to start from the Maui Seaside met its purpose. All I needed was a bed, and a shower with fresh towels. Not to say that was all the hotel offered but if you're requirements are as simple then the Maui Seaside may meet yours too. Plusses: 2 minute drive to airport, an hour and 20 minutes to Haleakala summit (traffic and time dependent), 1/2 hour to 45 min to most of the nice beaches. Downtown location so you can pick up supplies easily as well as sample local cuisine. Minuses: Very small beach, and loud AC (but works) The above being said; being a seaside hotel I expected a better beach but that's mostly up to the Hawaiian Gods. Can't fault them entirely for that.

Time-saving tip: In Hotel

Pay attention to the hotel clerk about the ways you can get to your room. The hotel is shaped such that some remote hotel rooms are quite a walk from the elevators, the length of 2 hotel wings. In these wings there are non-emergency stair access doors situated half way so you can use without using the elevator. Saved me a lot of walking.

I can't tell a lie...priceless views!

This was our first trip together to meet my fiance's family and we had such a wonderful time in Maui. I just couldn't belive that our breakfast was included with our room! You had your choice of three different entrees to choose from but I didn't expect the service to be this unforgettable! Tiare our waitress was so pleasant and treated us like family. That to me is what makes Maui "No Ka Oi!" Thanks [...]! Making future plans as we speak!

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

The breathtaking view of the rising morning sun and the setting of the nights moon, that could be seen at the same time. And the perfect backdrop of the neighboring islands, draped by the bright yellow earthtones, tints the start of a beautiful day ahead. While on the opposite side, the nights moon bids you "good-day until his return tonight" with the quiet hints of cool blue & soft pink. What an experience!

Easy to get to the airport

Close from the airport(OGG) and good location if you are traveling to Hana. Not close to the beach though. It is more closely located to Port/harbor. Room smelled strange so I had to spray my perfume. $5/day parking fee.

Good location.

Located in a central place. Very convenient to shopping mall and eateries. I just wish it were more affordable but I guess Maui is just expensive. The breakfast included was great!

Good place to stay while in a hurry.

I was there on business and have stayed once before. The beds could be upgrade, but I seemed to sleep just fine. Great staff, friendly, helpful. Not exactly a hotel to hang out for vacation, but how often do you stay in your room? Great restaurant called the Coconut Grill and all meals are terrific. Try the Hawaiian specialties and the place is a local favorite.

Good hotel, great location!

We stayed in the 4-storey building. In order to get to the elevator, you have to haul your gear down some stairs. Easy enough for anyone that does not have mobility issues but good to know. The on-site restaurant lets you choose from 1 of 3 options for the 'included' breakfasts~basic toast, eggs, meat or yogurt fruit & banana bread or pancakes...includes juice OR coffee. We had to move rooms after the first night as there was an ant problem in our room. However, the staff were very apologetic & moved us without any hesitation. The second room was ant-free & had a full view of the bay where we watched people fishing from the lava rock outcropping right in front of the hotel. Both rooms had air conditioning. There were security staff doing patrols of the parking lot & hotel hallways every night~we felt very safe. Parking in the hotel lot comes at a $5/day price. All of the hotel staff as well as the restaurant staff (separate business) were very friendly, happy to help with directions & recommendations for things to do & places to go. The hotel is centrally located, only a mile from the airport & in easy driving distance to other hubs for excursions including the Road to Hana, the Haleakela Crater & marinas for sport fishing, snorkeling, sailing & other excursions. Major retailers are nearby including, Costco, WalMart, Kmart, Safeway, Whole Foods, Starbucks, banks & gas stations (both right across the street). If you think you'll be out most days doing excursions & all things tourist, this is a very affordable, if humble place to lay your head down at night to rest up for the next day. Definitely not your 5 Star hotel but also definitely steps up from a hostel. My only complaint, a week isn't long enough to do everything!

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Talk to the hotel staff about what's going on at the moment. There was a Fair with a midway & local artisans that I would have completely missed. If booking excursions out of Lahaina, go directly to the ticket sellers on Front Street in Lahaina. They seemed to be offering better pricing than what I was able to find online.

well located

overall very well located - we did travel all around the island, there were shoping centers nearby, rent-a-car companies as well ...if you wanted to see any of the other towns along the coast you could easily get on the public transportation within walking distance from the hotel...
