Surprised by how good it was

Five stars hotel at affordable rate
One of the best decisions my friends and I made when planning our trip to Maui was to stay at the Marriot. The thing we liked the most was the new infinity pool in the hotel, which made the shore of Maui look like a surreal dreamland. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the room also had a wonderful view where we could look out to see the different changing colors in the sky. The only thing that could be improved was perhaps the WiFi in the hotel, we had to go to Starbucks or other restaurants to catch WiFi. However, that wasn't too difficult and did not downgrade the perfectness of this hotel. All in all, choosing this hotel will definitely make your trip to Maui even better.

Great location to snorkel
The location was great for snorkeling but as with everything in Wailea you need to get in a car to go eat. There are other resorts to eat at in the area, including the Marriott but the selection of food is limited and overpriced. The rooms were clean, staff is very friendly. The property is older but very well kept.

Cafe O'Lei is a local restaurant which is reasonable for Waliea and very good. Waterfront is a little further away, it is pricier but the food is excellent!

The only down side with the hotel was the resort fee. It seemed a bit much especially if you don't use the pool.

Really enjoyed this place....
We really enjoyed the Mariott Wailea. The hotel is very nice, extremely well kept up and felt luxurious without being fussy. The infinity pool is amazing and the fact that it's adults only is very nice. Poolside service is very personable and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. I have two very small quibbles. There is no WiFi in the place and they charge $15 a day for wired net access. This is just silly in this day and age. Also, when I called the desk to ask if I could get a fork to eat some leftovers from the night before, I was told that I would have to pay $4 for this privilege. Again, this is silly. I was told I could get plasticware from the cafe next to the pool. The day before I had asked for a knife to cut a pineapple I had bought and it was sent down within 10 minutes. Still, these are very small quibbles. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The room was large, the beds comfortable, and the promised ocean front room was about as ocean front as it got at this place. We could sit on our lanai and have a drink watching the sunset over Lana' i, or walk the 30' to the shore and sit in a chair and watch.

I highly recommend taking the road to Hana, but DO NOT drive past Hana. DO NOT! About 4-5 miles past Hana, the road becomes a dirt road for much of the portion between the southeast corner of the island and the Tedeschi winery. You could void your car rental agreement by doing this, and it would be easy to get stranded in a place with very limited cell phone reception.
