Nice Place, Great Location

Check in was smooth and easy. Had a choice of rooms upon check in, the first one on the ground floor had roaches outside the door and a couple in the room (building is open to outside, tropical) so I moved to a 6th floor room. Room was a good size, kind of tired and ready for a refresh though. Last refresh was likely a few years ago, bathroom was tired especially the bath/shower. Linens were good and crisp white, bed was comfy, and hotel was quiet. Overall room could have been cleaner, needed some detailing, it seems like a "quick clean" only. View is fantastic, beach is nice and a good location to explore the coast and other parts of the island from via car. Breakfast buffet was nice although quality of the fruit, especially the pineapple needs to improve. Coffee was weak. Parking was frustrating as it filled up every night, however they waived valet charge so just cost extra in tipping. Overall an acceptable hotel, only come for the room, do not expect a true four star carefree Resort experience, more like a three star.

Relaxing getaway

Hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable, and had a nice partial view of the ocean and of the luau area. The hotel itself had easy access and ample self-parking.

A little pearl.

Fantastic resort that really draws on best aspects of the island lifestyle but with a splash of luxury. Very convenient for those who just want some peace and those restless souls who want to discover the island. It's close enough to airport and beautiful Kailua, but slightly removed to ensure you have your own piece of the paradise.

Great stay!

I traveled with a family group of 7 and booked 3 rooms. The staff was very friendly and attentive. When we checked in, the person in charge offered to waive some of the hotel fees, it was a nice gesture which made the difference with other trips :p We had dinner at the hotel once, not too bad and a little pricey (you can expect that in HI anyway). The bar food is actually quite good and plentiful, with special mention to the thai salad with beef (awesome!) and mixed platter with teriyaki beef, chicken katsu and shrimp tempura. The rooms were clean; a bit old but had been remodeled nicely; the bathroom was small and had an outdated feel. The hotel beach is not good for snorkeling (murky waters and almost no fish on the two days that I went) but it has lounge chairs and the sunset view is spectacular. In fact, one Big Island guide book ranks this as top spot for viewing the sunset, behind the fish pond. The hotel is strategically located in North Kohala coast, a short drive from Mauna Kea and Hapuna beaches; it's also conveniently located for exploring the south Kona coast. We explored both areas by car. There are two shopping centers near the hotel, ~walking distance. There are some restaurants, a food court (below to average level food) and a convenience store. Recommend having a quick breakfast at the hotel coffee shop and grab lunch to go at the convenience store as you drive out to explore the island.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Mauna Kea and Hapuna beaches are two of the best beaches in the state and Island. Compared to other beaches in Big Island which are rocky, these do have plenty of sand!

Hotel was great

The hotel experience was great, friendly staffs and very clean room. Unfortunately, my booking information to this hotel was the received and wasted a good 2 hours standing in the front desk as the staffs scramble to find me a room. Because of the great staff they were able to get me a room.

Quality time with family

There was a slight glitch to the reservation, (problem was not with the hotel and I guess I can't post it here), but after that was resolved, we were ready to enjoy our time together. The hotel is beautiful, the staff are amazing. They treat tourists and locals with much aloha and respect and grateful that we are visiting their property. I was able to commend a bunch of staff members for keeping the property so nice for us to enjoy. We enjoyed the prime rib dinner buffet while eating near the pool. Since the pool is open 24 hours, after a few hours of resting after that buffet meal, we were able to enjoy time in the infinity pool. The summer evening was nice and cool. We enjoyed it so much, we went to the pool for the next 2 nights too. Waikoloa Beach Marriott, thank you for your hospitality, this was a deal we couldn't pass up, keep bringing the world more great deals!

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There is a store in the Queen's Marketplace that is huge and has a deli, with sandwiches and salads and some fried chicken. In case you don't want hotel food and you don't want to drive 20 mins. into Kona, buy food from there and reasonable. Sorry I don't know the name of the store, but you can't miss it!
