Relaxing & Enjoyable
Aloha and smiles are a way of life in Hawaii, and it shows at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort. Open air reception and dining blend into the natural atmosphere. Breakfast buffet was very tasty with omelets made to order. Ocean view room was small but impeccably clean each day. A short walk from the Marriott entrance to one upscale shopping venue, and about 1/4 mile walk to another. Beautiful sunsets .... Gatherings... as the Hawaiians say....over the beach & Pacific Ocean at the Hotel. Located on the NW part of the Island 17 miles north of KOA through the 1859 lava flow...an exciting experience for the 1st time visitor!

Sightseeing tip:
Short drive from hotel
If you consider 35 miles a short drive...only choice from drop box. A small sign on the "Ocean" side of Hwy. 19 will lead you down a paved road, through coffee trees to a very inviting coffee plantation named Kona Joe's is time well spent especially since I'd never seen coffee trees. Learned more about them during their tour. Sampled different blends. This particular owner grows them similar to grapes...on trellises. You can overlook the Pacific Ocean from about 1000-1100 ft. above sea level while you enjoy your favorite brew. Mountain Thunder coffee is about 1/8 of a mile on "Mountain" side of the street. The Hawaiians really love this for it's 100% Kona Coffee stoutness of caffeine and flavor.

Love the infinity pool and beach!
What a beautiful hotel with wonderful staff. The pool is huge, heated, and open 24 hr - perfect for taking a dip after day of activities. We got the upgrade to ocean view and asked for top floor with full view of ocean - and it was picture perfect. Would definitely stay again. For those who are scared off by the negative reviews by some - know that we were hesitant too. And there was nothing to worry about - Waikoloa beach is upscale and elegant with great shopping and restaurants.

Resort fee... for what??
We noticed a lot of changes at this hotel from when we last stayed there 2 years ago... the little things make all the difference. You have to pay $25 USD per day for a resort fee which really doesn't get you anything extra. There is no wireless internet in the room (plug in internet available for laptops) and wireless in the lobby. Self parking is also included. No longer included is the beach equipment rentals... snorkel gear, boards, kayaks, etc. are all extra. The soaps are standard but they used to be really great hawaiian soaps. The bar used to offer a "Bartender Special" for an affordable price, which has now almost doubled. Sorry, $8 for a drink isn't my idea of a deal. The pedicure at the spa was standard, however the bill was much more than standard. For what I spent I expected more. On the plus side, the beach is still beautiful (not all hotels on this island can boast a beautiful beach). There is a new beach side club adjacent to the hotel beach offering great happy hour deals. The staff is still pleasant and helpful. Although this hotel is nice, the bottom line is that we felt we didn't get the value for the money that we spent. There are better value options in Hawaii.

All Round Perfect!
This hotel had the best deal for my 2 wk solo stay. Found people for my tennis game every day, and the Hotel had a decent gym for working out. Easy walking to the main markets(Queen & King) and restaurants as well as the Hilton. The grounds were beautiful, and nice beach access for swimming.

A good place to stay
The staffs are really nice there, they are all kind and enthusiastic to share what they know about the island if you need . Walk distance to the beach, shops and restaurants is convenient. The room (garden view) is tidy, the bed is comfy, plus I still can get some part of ocean view from the balcony!!! It is just a bit too small. And it's a pity that the food in the hotel restaurant is not good enough for the price.
