Great location and nice view
The property is on a small cliff so there is no beachfront but the sunset view at the swimming pool was gorgeous. The property is very new and well maintained. It is very quiet and private, yet family friendly. I will definitely stay there again.

There are many things to do on the Island. I spent most of my days and night in Kona but did spend 1 night and 2 days in Hilo. Plan in advance! If u go to Green Beach (BEAUTIFUL hidden treasure) is a hot long (potty b4 u get there) walk u will need to bring water, wear tennis shoes, and sunscreen. Once there the water is not calm so be careful swimming and I would not let small children go. Be ready to walk, hike, & climb!

Excellent place to stay
The location was excellent and the condo was really well maintained. You did have to walk a way to the pool, but the pool was great for the kids and the sunsets there were stunning.

Brilliant
Arriving after hours was not a problem, the facility and villa were very clean and quite easy to navigate. The breakfast at the pool was great, and as expected fresh pineapple was delightful. Dinner at the pool was also good, but dont go close to closing allow time to enjoy the sunset and have that extra social beverage. Cant wait to go back, this place was awesome!

Short drive from hotel
allow time to visit the National Park and walk the volcanoe trails. A coffee tour is also fun, relatively quick and memorable. If you havent snorkeled before this is the place to try -go out with the Body Glove or Fair Winds boats and you will be well rewarded.

Great place for a great stay
Very spacious condo with a great pool and very close to food, shops and two great beaches. If you are going for the Volcano Park it's a couple hrs away but its very close to Kailua which is a nice little town.

Better than Hilton/Fairmont/Marriott
Castle Halii Kai At Waikoloa is a condo complex. It is a beautiful location and well maintained. Our unit, 9-D, had a great view of the ocean, the Hilton golf course, and the evening sunset. (Units 7 or higher should have equally desirable views.) It's just like home away from home--nice dishes, silver/glassware, attractive furniture, comfortable beds, a full covered patio, a Weber grill, dishwasher, full refrigerator, and a washer and dryer (which we even used!). Additionally, two large flat screen TVs with cable are included. With some plans, breakfast is inluded--it's modest, but it's good food and the view is gorgeous. Exercise equipment and swimming pools are located in this same area with similar outstanding views of the Pacific. Yes, food at the major restaurants is expensive (as in $40 or more without wine). However, there are Wal-Mart, Target, Cosco, K-Mart, and Safeway stores 7 miles South of the airport so you can do your own thing for a lot less by shopping there and enjoying the fresh foods in your own condo or on its patio. Natives will tell you that Merriman's Restaurant offers good food selections at more resonable prices. During our four days on the Island, we drove nearly 500 miles; most of our driving occurred on the North side of the Island, including the tropical rain forest/gardens, and going to Hilo. If you are allergic to plants avoid the rain forest/gardens! Most beautiful golf course we saw: Fairmont's. Of course, you'll take your camera--there are pictures to be taken you'll definitely want to keep.

Best restaurant for the price in this area: Merriman's, located in the Kings' Shops of Waikoloa Beach Resort. If you want to save money for some meals, consider getting your food items in Kailua-Kona, which is about a 30-minute drive from Castle Halii Kai At Waikoloa. Also, be aware that there's a difference between 100% Kona coffee and 10% Kona coffee (observe labels carefully!).

Wonderful get away
Hali'i Kai was a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu. We had no plans and just wanted to relax and enjoy another island and its people. We did visit with family and friends and felt so comfortable in our unit. There was nothing more we could of needed except for more days...This was the best place that I've stayed at in Waikoloa. We are planning a return trip and will definitely stay here again.
