Climbing high over a verdant lava outcrop, The Sheraton Maui Resort is a huge tropical retreat on Maui's west coast. Bamboo features, rattan chairs and Hawaiian traditional prints mark out the decor inside, while private lanai-style balconies give you your own private slice of nearby ocean vistas. The 142-yard pool with a lazy river and slides will keep families busy all day long, and with the special 'keiki' (meaning 'children' in Hawaiian) program providing treats like milk and cookies sent to your room, you might find the kids even more reluctant to leave than you are. Watch your dinner flame-cooked before your eyes at Teppan-Yaki Dan, or eat alfresco at Black Rock Terrace. Every day at sunset, guests can sit back and witness the awesome cliff dive ceremony.

Neighborhood
Situated right on top of Black Rock, Sheraton Maui Resort runs along Ka'anapali Beach and is next to Whalers Village, an open-air mall filled with boutiques, shops and restaurants. The area is a convenient 2.5 miles away from Kapalua-West Maui Airport (JHM), and Lahaina town is a 10-minute ride, if you're in the mood for some tiki bar-hopping along the seafront.
Hints and tips
To avoid lengthy walks to reach your room, book a space closer to the arc of the complex, where most of the action takes place. Building six will provide the quietest rooms, and buildings three and four are closer to the pool and nightlife.

Whaler's Village is a good tip for quick eats, like burritos or pizza, if you're trying to conserve vacation funds.

Meeting Info
The true reward of gathering at Sheraton Maui becomes immediately apparent in the outdoor settings. The pristine expanse of the Ocean Lawn, rolling down to the surf, promises Hawaiian festivities of old: perhaps a lu'au with a splurge of torches, or a lively cookout in the style of the paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy). The 12,000 square-foot Ocean Lawn is unprecedented in its breathtaking backdrop of Pu'u Keka'a, the Pacific Ocean and neighboring islands. The Anuenue Lawn, set amidst fresh Hawaiian ferns, is a perfect venue for festive affairs of up to 250 people.

GREAT as always!

I love this hotel. The staff and people who work there are always friendly. I have loved this hotel since I was a little girl. You can't go wrong by staying there. Book the Deluxe Ocean view room for the best sunsets and ambience. It is worth the money.

awesome Christmas vacation in Maui

The resort is well located, right next to black rock and kaanapali beach. We stayed in a suite. The view from the balcony is fabulous and the room is very comfortable. Will definitely come back.

Great honeymoon

My wife and I stayed at Sheraton Maui and had high hopes. We were fortunate to enjoy perfect weather every day we were there. The snorkeling was as good as expected, if not better. Good snorkeling gear was absolutely essential to explore black rock since we were a little out of shape. The sea turtle was there and came up pretty close to the beach. The resort was conveniently located for us to explore the rest of the island when we wanted to venture out.

Family trip

Way over-priced.(25$ FOR AN OMELET) Crowded. Place was a bit too large, too large for a feeling of being special. Just part of the wandering herd.

Beautiful grounds

The Sheraton Maui was a disappointment. The grounds are magnificent, but the hotel itself is becoming seedy. The rooms need an upgrade badly. For the price you pay to stay there, little is included. My sons wanted to play tennis and when they found out how much it cost, they decided not to. There is a daily additional fee of $40.00 and other than wifi. I can't figure out what they give you. So, if the room and service is not important to you, stay there. For me and my family. I will choose another hotel next vacation. As an ad-on, the staff wasn't particularly helpful and seemed to have an attitude when asked a question. Try another hotel.

Entertainment tip: Short drive from hotel

Go to the feast at Lele. It was a great luau from start to finish. It was well organized, the food was good and the entertainment was excellent. Don't miss it!

Great location

Wonderful location right besides black rock for snorkeling with huge turtles. Also few minutes walk from market/grocery shops and few fine dining restaurants too.

Quick Family Getaway

My husband and our 2 sons, aged 9 and 6, stayed here for four days in December. The boys LOVED it, and it was our second stay as a couple. The oceanview room was beautiful, the on-site food choices delicious, the pool provided hours of entertainment and the snorkeling from right off the shore cannot be beat (this is why we stay here!). It was neat to see everything decorated for Christmas, an experience in itself. A few cons: the bed was not comfortable, the bathroom has no fan (so it gets very steamy and stinky with multiple young men...), the housekeeping staff only kept things moderately clean-we still found food on the floor, hairs in the bathroom-yuck. Also, there needs to be a better late checkout option than noon-even if it costs a bit so that families leaving for an overnight flight can still enjoy the resort and be able to shower off later before leaving.

Great Location

I've stayed at this hotel a few time now and like it very much. The only thing I noticed this time are was that the pools weren't heated (actually kind of cold) which we didn't really like. Otherwise, it has a great beach and is in a great location!
