The Royal Lahaina Resort is a family-owned complex of traditional tower hotel rooms and plantation-style beach huts beneath swaying coconut palms. Thanks to the lush 27-acre property size, there's nothing to interfere with views of those mesmerizing ocean waves and neighboring island Molokai, as you snooze in a wicker chair by the sea. Golf enthusiasts have access to two 18-hole championship courses at the Kaanapali Golf Resort, while nature-lovers will be thrilled with many whale-watching opportunities. At night, guests can indulge in Hawaiian history by joining in with a traditional "Myths of Maui" luau, and let the sound of Polynesian drums, the dazzle of colored costumes, and the intense fire knife dance initiate them into island life.

Shopping tip: Long walk from hotel

Whaler's Village is NOT a short 10min walk as the internet has said. Not too much there, either, for shopping purpose. I would go to a larger shopping area, to make it worth your experience.

Quiet location almost private beach Wonderful

We could snorkel right in front and just north a short walk Also the evening dinner hour had a Hawaiian guitar and single dancer accompany in a low volume very relaxing setting. Very low key and romantic. Food was good kahuna salas with mahi. Only thing missing was a bistro setting as all meals were essentially 25 dollars including breakfast if you did not want a small item. Example one half of a papaya was 6dollars alone so go agHead and buy the breakfast buffet for $23. Also if you arrive during the luau use the valet.

Not Royal

Average hotel for the price. Paid extra to stay there in one of the cottages and it was not royal at all and would not recommend.

Great location and staff, rooms not so much

We stayed here for a night since we landed late and chose a cottage room. The hotel has beach access to one of the best beaches in Maui. The hotel staff at check-in were friendly and courteous. The room however was bad. We had picked the cottage since it sounded like it would be isolated and quiet. The cottage is not a solo unit but is a two story building that is divided into four rooms. The walls were paper thin and we could hear the neighbor listening to TV until midnight. There was no relief after midnight either as the sprinklers go on throughout the night until 1 or 2 am. Then the birds start making noise around 5 am. The rooms were older and a surprising contrast from the lobby area, which was very nice. Maybe the hotel rooms above the lobby would have been nicer.

Paradise

Aloha, This is our 3rd, stay there it is truly paradise we've stayed in the cottages and in the tower you can't go wrong with either but I like the tower the rooms are newer the the ocean view is to die for. The beach is so beautiful and its like it's your own private beach. The staff are so nice.

Great Resort with great location

Booked three nights and upon arrival was upgraded to a better room at no charge. We enjoyed our stay so much we booked another night and were allowed to stay in our upgraded room for the extra night. The location on the beach is great and provides swimming pools and a beach bar with good happy hour prices. Restaurant setting is nice but could have better food. Overall, a great trip. Would book again on our next trip to maui.

Lovely Resort

Valet service was excellent. Room was very nice. Location was great. View of ocean was great. Only improvement would be waiters in lounge/restaurant were not very attentive. One lady waitress, Carolyn was wonderful. The waiters seemed to be preoccupied at the bar and not very service oriented. Did not seat me on arrival, slow to acknowledge or bring menu. Overall service was slow and intermittent. That being said, the food was very good, and the open air atmosphere was very pleasant. All other services were great.
