The Royal Lahaina Resort is a family-owned complex of traditional tower hotel rooms and plantation-style beach huts beneath swaying coconut palms. Thanks to the lush 27-acre property size, there's nothing to interfere with views of those mesmerizing ocean waves and neighboring island Molokai, as you snooze in a wicker chair by the sea. Golf enthusiasts have access to two 18-hole championship courses at the Kaanapali Golf Resort, while nature-lovers will be thrilled with many whale-watching opportunities. At night, guests can indulge in Hawaiian history by joining in with a traditional "Myths of Maui" luau, and let the sound of Polynesian drums, the dazzle of colored costumes, and the intense fire knife dance initiate them into island life.
Location
Located on the tip of the renowned Kaanapali Beach, up the coast from Maui resort Lahaina and less than five miles from Kapalua West Maui Airport (JHM), the Royal Lahaina is down-shore from the more rowdy boardwalk scene, but only a 15-minute stroll from the restaurants and shopping of Whaler’s Village. The hotel is also just north of Black Rock, a large lava formation which serves as a local landmark for cliff-diving and snorkeling fans.

  • 350 guestrooms (97 cottage rooms, 236 tower rooms, 17 suites)

Glad I stayed here!

I originally booked this resort for a 2 night stay. After the 2 nights were over, I decided to cancel my reservation at another hotel and stay here 4 extra nights. I was very pleased to say the least! This resort is in a great location! They have two pools on site, restaurant, dry cleaning, valet parking, and room service to name a few amenities. We (my bf and I) paid for a partial ocean view room and the view was amazing! The only thing I did not like was the parking fee of $10/day. The parking spaces are so narrow it's hard to park your car -- let along get out of it without hitting someone's car. Also there are no washer/dryers on the resort. The food is also a bit pricey. The entrees start at $16 and a Bahama Mama ran us $14 excluding tax. Despite the cons, I would definitely stay again.

Nice Hotel - Wifi was terrible

The hotel was nice but don't get the 3rd floor because you will get screwed on view. We asked to change room and they could not accommodate us. You are in Maui was a horrible view of the roof top. I'm sure that other rooms have nicer views but the 3rd floor was a buzz kill.

Quick overnight trip

Adequate for 1 night stay. Room overlooked valet drop off so could barely see the ocean for a partial ocean view. Early bird breakfast is a deal. Beach is nice.

Very low-key

This hotel is great for anyone who wants a low-key vacation. There are no bars or clubs anywhere close and everything closes early. Also the restaurant onsite was not very good. We were not able to find anything that we really liked.

First visit to HI

Hotel was great. Right on the beach, close to shopping. The only knock was the beach towel situation. They close at 5pm, so you have to hold your towels until the next day to trade them in.

Nice resort, helpful staff

The staff was very friendly, we even got an upgraded room for military :) Everything was convenient, and the resort beach was nice and not crowded. Housekeeping forgot to clean our room one day but it wasn't a big deal. Rooms were quiet and had good darkening shades (which is something I need!). Guest parking was a little difficult, there were always spaces, but usually the ones furthest away and they were pretty tight spaces. Parking was $10/day which seemed reasonable. Overall a good stay, I'd definitely recommend to someone.
