Maui's beauty comes in many forms. From the summit of Mt. Haleakala where the sun rises each morning, to the tropical rainforests in Hana. From the unspoiled grasslands of upcountry Maui where paniolo (cowboy) still roam, to the windsurfing capital of the world on the North shore.

The true reward of gathering at Sheraton Maui becomes immediately apparent in the outdoor settings. The pristine expanse of the Ocean Lawn, rolling down to the surf, promises Hawaiian festivities of old: perhaps a lu'au with a splurge of torches, or a lively cookout in the style of the paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy). The 12,000 square-foot Ocean Lawn is unprecedented in its breathtaking backdrop of Pu'u Keka'a, the Pacific Ocean and neighboring islands. The Anuenue Lawn, set amidst fresh Hawaiian ferns, is a perfect venue for festive affairs of up to 250 people.

Beautiful, Amazing, Friendly, OMG!
Fizzle Family Fun! Nov 27, 2009
We arrived at the Sheraton and were greeted by a friendly staff. We were upgraded to the room with the best view - RIGHT on ... top of the black rock cliff! WOW! We had an amazing view. As a family we went snorkeling, parasailing, ate amazing meals and spent a great of time relaxing, body surfing, and just having a great time as a family. Every staff member we met was friendly and service was great. There are cabanas on the beach. TIPS for family travelers: Go into town, get water, snacks, drinks, a cooler and items to stock up your fridge. Easier and cheaper this way. Also, buy your own boogie board because it is $20/ a day to rent one at the resort and about $12 bucks at the store in town. Then donate the boards to the next family that is coming in. Same goes with bringing or buying your own snorkel gear. Go parasailing - it is worth it! Overall one of the greatest family vacations we have taken, and we take alot!

Ours was an excellent trip. We liked the hotel very much and our room was upgraded.Staff very friendly. The grounds and pool ... are excellent. We would only rate the food as good. Our main activities were the pool, eating out, shopping and a drive to Hana. We would stay here again and would recommend the hotel to family and friends.

Loved the location of the hotel...right on the beach, great snorkeling by black rock. Food was expensive as with any ... resort. The pool was beautiful but way too cold. Only one small jacuzzi that mainly had kids in it although they are not supposed to be in there. Rooms were clean but a little dated. No counter space in the bathroom...sink was hangin on from wall. Towels for both room and pool were pretty worn out and small. All the staff that receive tips (waiters, valet, bell desk) were wonderful. Staff that didn't rely on tips...front desk, etc. not so helpful!

Nice location, awful service and food.

I would not recommend Sheraton (at least this one in Kaanapali-Maui), unless you like to be cheated.* We booked a Partial ... Ocean View with a King Bed;** Guest cheating services (aka Front Desk) told us they did not Partial Ocean View with King Bed anymore, so they "upgraded" us to a Deluxe Ocean Front, awesome ahh? no, no, no... faaar away from the pool and the Beach (a maze game to go to/from Building 6 pool/beach/restaurants). And after arriving at the room, surprise! It was a room with two Double Beds (but we booked a King Bed room);** We went back to the front desk, and after complaining they offered us a Partial Ocean View King Bed room. Wow, remember, they did not have have such a room before.* About Black Rock restaurant (at Sheraton):** It is just convenient (near your room);** The food is average;** The price is the same as a first class restaurant, but I think it has no Chef. Why? Just look at the Menu... it is something like, choose your meat, choose your style, choose your sauce, choose side(+extra $) dishes. If charging first class they should have "Entrees", not "Do it yourself Menu". Example: Ono @Maui - Sauted with Haiku tomatoes, white wine, garlic and capers.* At checkout, they tried to charge us a US$ 63 "tax difference". Hawaii increased Hotel state taxes by 1% in July 1st 2009 (SB1111), but we bought our package on October/2009. We argue with Sheraton front desk manager but they told us they would not give up on that fee. [...]

The Sheraton at Black Rock has the best location of all the hotels in Ka'anapali. Located at the end of the beach walkway, ... you have shopping and alternative dining within walking distance! It also has by far the best beach on the strip with great snorkeling. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. The rooms are a bit outdated, but clean and the beds are comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to both couples and parents traveling with children.

Beautiful hotel, but confusing layout
Just Maui'd Oct 1, 2009
The grounds at the Sheraton were beautiful. One of the nicest hotels on the beach. However, the daily resort fee is a little ... ridiculous for the price you are paying. We called ahead to confirm a king bed, but when we got there, they had us in a room with 2 double beds. They were able to find us a room with a king bed, but our friends weren't so lucky. We stayed in a Deluxe Oceanfront room. The view was incredible and the room was very clean. We saw a sea turtle from our balcony! However, the layout of the hotel is very confusing. Walking to the lobby takes at least 5 minutes...and that's if you don't get lost! You have to take 2 different elevators just to go down one floor! It's a very nice hotel, but we will look for other accommodations on our next trip to Maui.

A rental car is a must! Take the short drive to Lahaina for great food at reasonable prices. You have to check out Cheeseburger in Paradise and Moose McGillicuddy's! Great food and drinks! My husband and I have booked the oceanfront room. At the check in they gave us an "updated room" , nice uh? BUT with two ... double beds instead of one king bed. The deluxe room is nice no doubt about but so far away from everything and nevertheless to say we were not confortable in the bed (which bounced everytime my husband move) so we wanted what we booked. They gave the room you booked for our last two days of staying...there were no rooms with king bed! The hotel is well located, clean, beautiful, but we were dissapointed with the "bed choice" and at the check in, when we first arrived, nobody one came to greeting us, my husband and I needed to take our own bags from the car...

Well, our stay was highlighted by bloody stains in bed sheets and pillow that turn out to be bed bugs. I'm pregnant and I ... was hit the most. I ended up with numerous itchy bed bug bites.
