7th Visit to the Sheraton

Our 7th visit to the Sheraton's Deluxe Ocean Front Room. Fantastic view. Beautiful 23 acre grounds. Snorkeling at Black Rock. We love the Sheraton's friendly staff. Deluxe Ocean Front Rooms have been upgraded since January 2011. I'll pay a premium for a great room and the Sheraton has them.

The good and the bad

First the good, the Sheraton Maui probably has one of the best locations on Maui, and they KNOW IT! If you like snorkeling and swimming you are in the right spot. We saw more fish right from our hotel room beach than we did on the boat trip we did. The other frustrating thing was the food. I have been to Hawaii before and I know food is expensive. I live near the Colorado ski resorts so I know that burgers can be upwards of $15 in those spots. But Sheraton took this way to far. $19 for a burger without cheese and $8 for a 12oz beer in a plastic cup is just too much. Needless to say we chose to dine in other areas in Lahaina town and Kapula where they were not trying to get every dollar out of you. As I mentioned before, this was the 2nd time we stayed at Sheraton in Hawaii, and probably the last. They have just taken resort town tourist money making too far. Next time we go to the islands, and we will because we love them we will be staying in a condo type environment for sure.

Best Vacation we've taken so far

I can not say enough positive things about the Maui Sheraton. From the moment we walked in (we were only offered an upgrade to a suite once and when we declined she did not ask again) to the moment we checked out (2 1/2 hours later than check out time since they knew we had a late flight) everything was amazing. We stayed in building 6 in room 6511 and it was everything we hoped for. The first morning we woke up at 430a due to the time change and watched whales breaching in the moonlight from our balcony! Loved the breakfast buffet and were bummed on the days we had early morning activities and couldn't go. We were always treated as a valued guest and we never saw an unfriendly staff member. We have been to numerous beach resorts and this one was by far our favorite! We will most definitely return!

Probably Best Hotel In Kaanapali

Had a lovely staty. Lovely resort on the corner of the beach, a bit more secluded. Pool was cold, staff were rude, restaurants expensive. Otherwise it was fantastic and I would recommend it.

Wasted stay for 30th Anniversary

The only strong point of this trip and our stay at this hotel was the Valet service team. The food was average but nearly triple the cost of other local establishments. The guest services team really needs to figure out what a resort is supposed to provide. This place actually charged my account for services that they anticipated that I might use on the first night of our stay. I understand that it is standard practice to request an incidentals charge for items that may be used during your stay, but this place, took the incidental charge and then additionally assumed based on my a single activity, charged my card my room rate and the activity we completed on the first day times the number of days we were staying. let me clear, the room was already paid, this was in addition to the charges we had already paid to actually rent the room which was prepaid before we arrived. If that wasn't bad enough we actually had to call and ask them to service the room. Really!! This is a 4 Star hotel? I seriously doubt that they have been reviewed lately, as I expected so much more. I have traveled to many Hawaii locations and normally stay at 4 or 5 star hotels, and this ranked up there with the Motel 6, and they did keep the light on for us. If you plan on going to Maui in the near future, find a different place to stay unless the valet team is enough for you that is.

New Years

Wonderful property in a fantastic location. Staff friendly and helpful. Only one minor problem was at check-in as we had to wait two hours from the posted check in time for our room. We were given free cocktails during the wait so not a big problem. On site parking and valet is wonderful, great value!
