Wonderful stay on Maui
The Outrigger is in a great location. It is an area of condos and some residential. There are restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance and others a short drive. Many people are out jogging and walking in the area exercising and enjoying the beautiful scenery. There are public parks nearby where locals and tourists enjoy the beaches and the sunset. We were able to sit on our furnished lanai and enjoy our beautiful ocean view.Lahaina is a short drive and although full of tourists is still a wonderful place to eat, shop, and enjoy the waterfront. We got what we went for .....relaxation in a beautiful place!!!

Great Location, Nice Condo for the Price
We actually stayed at the Royal Kahana way back in 1983, and we found it to be much nicer this time than we remembered. Our studio unit on the 8th floor was large, clean, nicely furnished, and had a great ocean view. We enjoyed sitting outside on our lanai watching whales. The kitchen wasn't great; while the appliances were large and seemed pretty new, there was zero counter space. We had to do our food prep on the stove or in the sink! The pool was pleasant, but there was no jacuzzi, and too few outdoor grills. The exercise room was clean and had decent equipment. The staff was friendly. Overall, for the money, we were at a decent condo with a great location.

Forget the hotel's beach and head up to one of the beautiful crescent beaches a short drive north, such as Napili Bay or Kapalua Bay.

Great!
I used this hotel as a starting point to drive around on the island. It is very calm and perfect to spend some time on the beach or the pool. Good restaurants can be found in Lahaina, which is a 10min drive away, the beach cannot be closer ;-), the rooms were large and very clean and the staff very helpful and friendly, nothing at all to complain about! I would definitely recommend it to my friends.

Great View of the Ocean
We attended a wedding and did a lot of sight-seeing. The only recommendation I can give is to not have the tour company in the lobby. They are very high priced.

Convenient Location
This place was perfect for our needs. We had a 2 BR condo labeled as garden view, but could still sit on the lanai & see the ocean while sipping our morning coffee. The room was clean and comfortable. The fitness room had treadmill, elliptical, etc., plus a weight machine for a good basic workout. The only problem with the location is that apparently it is on the windiest part of the island. There is a beach just behind the building, just a little steep, but many nice beaches close by. We had a great time on the helicopter ride, doing a zipline tour, and I got my scuba diving certification!

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
The strip mall just across the street has Roy's for fine dining (the chocolate dessert is to die for), and the Maui Brewing Company for good beer and good sandwiches. A short drive away is Duke's for fine dining, and CJ's has great omelets and smoothies.

Very nice place- wish for more beach
My third time to Maui - had a full itinerary of all the major sites to show my husband and son, whom had never been there. The blow hole was kicking the day we were there, which was so awesome. We did the traditional Hana drive, Iao Needle, Black Rock, Haleakala, etc. We did the Maui Ocean Center, which was nice and very well done, but after being at Sea World several times and from the San Diego area, it was sort of a let down. We did not spend much time in the room, but it was very clean and a very quiet place. The ocean breeze and hearing the waves every night made for very peaceful sleeping. I love having the kitchen and washer/dryer, which are always, definitely TWO PLUSES I would not do without. Breakfast on the lanai every morning watching the sun rise over the neighbor island, Moloka'i was so relaxing. We liked being away from the hustle and bustle of Lahaina, but yet close enough to take in the local festivities, shops, etc. (about 7-10 min). I would stay there again!!

We were here to attend a niece's wedding and did most of our activities South of Kahana. We were unable to locate the bigger shopping center and some of the closer dining areas other than the fast food. We wanted to try the food at the Gazebo, but by the time we got there, the line was already horrendous.......maybe next time!
