Outrigger Royal Kahana

Little outdated, but clean and comfortable. Would stay again.

First of all, let me say we had a great time in Maui. The Outrigger Royal Kahana was a very good Condo room with a separate bedroom facing waterfront. The room was very clean and the kitchen equipped for any possible use. With a washer/dryer you do not need to over pack and it leaves a lot of room for new items. From our Lanai and room we saw whales splash and play all day long. The Outrigger only had a pool and tennis court (over a covered garage). The counter is just for check in/out along with minimal assistance and is in a glass enclosed cage. What is great is that on site was a independent day time excursions service and yes they wanted to sell you excursions and excursions. They were also very helpful for travel and fun purposes. Don't depend on the hotel staff for that purpose. No bar, no eats, and no entertainment. We met some of the owners who were helpful too. For parking, you had to be an expert to park in very tight spots. Your rental car will get chipped and doors banged. The beach is minimal but you can go on it and also in the water with care. No life guard. Our trip was Maui and not the Outrigger so we had a great time. On our 4th time back to Maui, we will stay at a different location. Enjoy yours too.

The refrigerator "hummed" loudly all night, every night, the shower was so bad that it took a minimum of 10 minutes to rinse the shampoo out of your hair, the beds were as hard as a rock with sheets that didn't fit, so you ended up with all of them on the floor or wrapped around your feet upon awakening, we weren't informed that they only changed the sheets every 4 days, but did give new towels daily, could barely turn the knobs on the water faucets.....need I go on?

Checked in late and received a "so-so" unit. Next morning requested one with a better view and more updated. Linda Mae was wonderful, and I got more than I asked for. Friendly staff, well maintained grounds, nice beach, and good concierge staff. If you want to eat (other than in your unit) you need to go off grounds as the little facility near the pool was really only for coffee and smoothies.

Nice beach in front of the hotel. Great for a family stay but it's an okay place for honeymooners. Staff was very friendly. The whole time we stayed the towels weren't changed at all and we stayed for 5 nights and four days.

The gym or hotel next door was VERY noise. Construction noises at 8:00 am. Blasting music from the gym muted the sound of the ocean. Be careful of opening all the windows, there is a strong crosswind that snaps the doors shut if they are not secured - probably not the best for small children.

maybe it is because we stayed with a 4 star resort before this hotel, Outrigger Royal Kahana did not impress me with its old, outdated facilities. Hotel staff was very average and the room was not that well finished. The ocean view was interesting but the beach was not so great to enjoy in, so we had to drive to a different beach every time. I wish I did more research and chose another hotel/condo near a better beach.

the stay at the hotel was fine. They did change the housekeeping rules. There was no housekeeping service the whole time we were there. This was disappointing, as we expected the same service as last year.

Overall average room. Staff not too friendly. Had to pay for extra towels and extra coffee and internet use.
