Relaxing retreat will take you away . .

Wonderful property in excellent location, 3 blocks from Front Street in Lahaina. Grounds are immaculately landscaped and maintained. Pools are excellent, very relaxing. Pavillion (near larger pool) and cabanas provide comfortable shade when you need a break from the sun. We enjoyed catching up on some of the US Open golf tournament on the oversized flat screen TV in the pavillion overlooking the pool. Soooo relaxing! Rooms felt spacious and king bed was very comfortable. If you appreciate natural lighting consider an upstairs unit. They have skylights and the local roosters will give you a friendly wake up call each morning!!! Flat screen TV and CD/DVD player in BR were also very nice. Aina Nalu paid attention to all the right details when upgrading this property. The open stone tile showers are nothing short of a calming retreat that you would not expect from a 3 star property. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could need. We even baked chocolate chip cookies so we could finish off our milk! Go to Costco near the airport. Prices are same as mainland there. We got steaks, fresh fruit, and other groceries from Costco and Safeway (bring club card) and ate in a lot. The Webber gas grills by small pool made BBQ-ing a breeze. Short walk to the Old Banyan Tree, Wharf Cinemas and Lahaina shopping and restaurants. The ONLY negative to Aina Nalu is the parking fee but MANY other properties charge one as well. We read many reviews and chose to park on the street. It was very manageable to do so during our 10-day stay, and only a minor inconvenience that was worth the savings.

Save money on Road to Hana tour- Buy your audio CD at the Hana CD Guide. (Go inside the store at the Shell station on Dairy Rd. in Kahului and ask for it.) You will get the audio, a DVD (watch BEFORE you go if you can) and you can rent an ice chest for the day at no charge with a small deposit. Plan for 8-9 hours round trip, pack a camera with EXTRA batteries, lunch, and cold bevvies and . . . enjoy!

Great price for newly renovated hotel

Nice condo-hotel with great amenities as it was recently renovated. Location was in heart of Old Lahaina Town (and very residential!). Location not on beach so no ocean view access. Has kichenette with all the pots/pans/flatware/glassware so great for more long-term visitors who may want to do some cooking and save some money. Walking distance to town and historical sites. But slightly longer walk to beach area, which was relatively small (as compared to the nearby gorgeous white sand beaches of Kaanapali (a 10 min drive away)).

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

Resort parking is relatively expensive at $15/night, especially given the empty lots and comps at the other Kaanapali beach hotels. I would recommend street parking which was relatively easy to find when we went during nonpeak season.

Nice Stay

Pros: Great location for walking to Lahaina restaurants and bars, and driving to west and south shore beaches. The kitchen was nice as it allowed us to eat in a couple times and save money. Bed was comfortable. Great pools, gardens, and grounds. Cons: Bathroom was nice but hot/stuffy because A/C units are electric in-wall and do not push cool air to the bathroom. Could hear neighbors walking above us but was not terribly annoying. Additional $15/day for parking was almost insulting.

Pacific'O restaurant at 505 Front St was great - we went twice! Their menu is mostly locally grown/caught/raised, great drinks, and friendly, well informed staff. Nice ambiance with a view of Lanai and music from the nightly Luau a couple doors down.

A good place to stay in Maui

It's a nice hotel to stay. The services are excellent, even better than some five-star hotels. Though the hotel looks a little bit old, it's very clean inside. We love the kitchen. They have all the utensils you can think of. Cooking youself can save you a lot. The location is great, and it is close to grocery stores.
