One of over 500 Hyatt hotels around the world, the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa looks out on the Pacific from between Hawaiian palms and tropical flora on its 40-acre beachfront estate. Families are well cared for here, with features like a fun-packed pool where little ones can ride a 150-foot lava tube waterslide. When it's the adults' turn to relax, a star-caliber facial at the Marilyn Monroe Spa will do the trick, along with a local blend at the Halona Kai coffee bar or sushi at Japengo. As the sun sets, it's time to sit back for an evening's feasting, dancing and fun, as the sound of a conch shell heralds the start of the Polynesian luau.

Situated north of fishing settlement Lahaina on Maui's west coast, the Kapalua West Maui Airport (JHM) is about four miles away from the Hyatt Regency Hotel, and guests can walk to the town's Whalers Village shops in about 15 minutes. Black Rock is a good snorkeling site located nearby, especially for newbies excited to take the plunge. Maui's Ka'anapali Golf Courses are as inspiring as they are challenging, situated right on the rolling dune hills by the sea - and visitors get special rates for staying at the Hyatt Regency.
Hints and tips
If there are vegetarians in your party wishing for a menu with more-than-average veggie variety, check out Joy's Place.

Located in Kihei, Joy's is roughly a half-hour drive south from the hotel, but well worth it for the specialty food options, including vegan smoothies and the well-loved (vegetarian) burrito supreme.

Unforgetable

This was my first trip to Hawaii, and was a bit nervous about where to stay. But I came to find out that my choice to stay at the Hyatt was not only well price, but turned out to be the resort that had the most amenities, and best views. Most of the activities seem to be no more then a short walk away or a small cab ride away. Myself personally, I found myself spending most my time at this resort. It truly had it all; plenty of lounges to satisfy your thirsts, pools and other seaside activities, stores to take care of all your need, a separate pool and water park just for the kids if you have them, sunset sail boat rides, luau, even photo trails that allow you to get shots from everything from local wildlife to the beautiful plants and flowers of the area. ~Things to watch out for: there is no hotel shuttle services from the airport, I recommend using the local Roberts airport shuttle, friendly, prompt, and decently price for a round trip service. ~ This resort is more tailored for a couples/family retreat, so if your traveling alone just know that some perks like two for price breakfast buffets doesn't apply if you traveling alone. ~ If u use a debit card, there is a security deposit of $100/day required at check in, and there is a $30/day flat rate charge for amenities that will also be due at check-in. ~ And for those of u on a budget, just plan on spending $20 to $30/meal/person. But the choices provided and the very well prepared food, ranging from local food to five star sushi bar, I found to be well worth it. Final thought: Regardless of you are a returning vacationeer or an island first timer, this Hyatt resort has set the bar high, and I would recommend it to anyone to achieve that Hawaiian experienced that you will never forget and truley hate to leave. Aloha

Aging and Under Construction

The Hyatt appears to be aging a bit, as is evidenced in the décor, and room amenities. Furthermore there is construction going on all over the place at the moment (Summer '13). The good news is that they're investing some $ back into the hotel. However, it appears that this reinvestment is taking the form of a new luau area, and by wedging in some timeshares next to the Napili Tower. All in all, it's still Maui, and it's hard to find fault in the Ka'anapali coastline. Yet I find myself thinking that on return I will likely try another hotel/resort. The Hyatt may no longer be worth the price.

the pool area is a great place to lay around, an the hot tub is the best, to relax in ...but parking is a premium......if you stay out late, you may not have a parking space to return to....over all its a great resort to stay at, i have stayed there twice now in the past two years, plus i have gotten an ocean view room or partial view ......the staff was friendly also.....

Relaxing vacation

as a business person who is in touch with his business daily. one would enjoy and better if he had access to free wifi all around the beach resort. Rooms had this wired connection that i had to pay approximately $ 10 a day. Nowadays everyone has free wifi. Your hotel should consider this as well

Beautiful, but a few disappointments

I updated into the VIP level (Regency Club) at this Hyatt Maui Resort. The club staff were very cordial, but there were large family groups who seemed to consider this area their personal use - loud groups, small toddlers, loud teenagers, pretty much ignoring privacy for other guests. I also began to see guests going back to other hotel floors from the VIP levels - probably family members sharing key access?? There was a continual sense that you were expected to be there with someone else. Despite the lovely accommodations, I probably won't visit this resort again.

Good Hotel

The hotel itself is in a great neighborhood, loved the area. The dining options are alright, though I mostly ate out of the resort. The only complaint I have about the hotel is the beach. There are way too many rocks in the water. I ended up driving to Wailea Beach or BIg Beach in Kihei/Wailea to enjoy a beach thats only full of sand instead of rocks.
