One of over 500 Hyatt hotels around the world, the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa looks out on the Pacific from between Hawaiian palms and tropical flora on its 40-acre beachfront estate. Families are well cared for here, with features like a fun-packed pool where little ones can ride a 150-foot lava tube waterslide. When it's the adults' turn to relax, a star-caliber facial at the Marilyn Monroe Spa will do the trick, along with a local blend at the Halona Kai coffee bar or sushi at Japengo. As the sun sets, it's time to sit back for an evening's feasting, dancing and fun, as the sound of a conch shell heralds the start of the Polynesian luau.

Hints and tips
If there are vegetarians in your party wishing for a menu with more-than-average veggie variety, check out Joy's Place.

Located in Kihei, Joy's is roughly a half-hour drive south from the hotel, but well worth it for the specialty food options, including vegan smoothies and the well-loved (vegetarian) burrito supreme.

Hyatt Regency Maui--May 2009

My husband and I really enjoyed our trip to Maui. The Hyatt was absolutely wonderful. It is a beautiful hotel with it's own little zoo (parrots, swans, penguins, African cranes, flamingos, etc). The room was clean and we had a lovely partial-ocean view. There are 3 hammocks near the beach and the pool is great. The beach beds are $50 per day--way too expensive. I personally think they should be free with the room. Instead, we bought 2 bamboo woven beach mats ($1.99 each at the hotel shop) and laid out on the beach under the palm trees. That is a very relaxing way to spend a morning.

great stay overall

Our experience at the Hyatt was very good. The staff was VERY FRIENDLY and PROFESSIONAL. Rooms were Very Clean and well taken care of each day. The grounds were immacculate with beautiful landscape designs, waterfalls,as well as wonderful wildlife such as pink flamingos, colourful fish and penguins. The pool is the best I have ever seen at a resort. The beach area or lack of was dissappointjng. The cost to eat there in the restaurants was way above our means, so we drove into Lahaina (10 min) to grab some food at a much lower price. The parking at Hyatt is very limited,(probably the Hyatts biggest downfall) and if your timing is right, you may get lucky enough to find a parking spot right away.Overall our experience at the Hyatt was very enjoyable, and would recommend this resort to people.

Maui Staff was Outstanding!!

From start to finish, the staff was outstanding and took excellent care of us. We were on an extended weekend romantic getaway to get engaged that lived up to our every expectation. The recently added Umalu poolside bar & restaurant was a hit serving up excellent treats and a wide variety of familiar and unique cocktails. Make sure to befriend bartenders Richard, Darleen and Glen at the Umalu bar and they will surely provide excellent conversation and tips for your stay. See you next time, Mahalo!

Very nice, but EXPENSIVE, hotel.

The Hyatt is very nice. Our ocean front room was comfortable. Would have been nice to have a bigger or more usable balcony...to view the ocean. The grounds, pools, etc were well maintained. My biggest complaint was how expensive the restaurants were, etc. The breakfast buffet would cost a couple about $65 including tip. This is really high... Dinner down the path at Hula grill with a nice bottle of wine is about $85. So we didn't eat that much at the hotel, so many places nearby for far less but higher quality.

Great place to stay

We loved the stay at the Hyatt. The pool and the staff was great. Lots a shopping available in the Hotel. Loved the lobby area and the entire grounds. Just beautiful. The rooms are clean roomy and has a safe to use which comes in handy when going to the pool or going snorkeling. Three things that could use improvement: Parking if you leave and come back after 8:30pm you will have to use valet ($20/day)parking or walk a mile. Either way there is a little walk up a hill. The hotel restaurants and bars are very expensive, ($6.00 for a beer). You are better off going down the road or into town. Use of the internet should be free.

Beautiful, but a few disappointments

I updated into the VIP level (Regency Club) at this Hyatt Maui Resort. The club staff were very cordial, but there were large family groups who seemed to consider this area their personal use - loud groups, small toddlers, loud teenagers, pretty much ignoring privacy for other guests. I also began to see guests going back to other hotel floors from the VIP levels - probably family members sharing key access?? There was a continual sense that you were expected to be there with someone else. Despite the lovely accommodations, I probably won't visit this resort again.

Something for all

This was our first stay at the Hyatt. It was quite wonderful. The room was a good size, and had a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was excellent. The property is large, and contains many interesting birds on the grounds. There were a lot of families with children, and it is definitely a hotel that is family friendly. As our son is grown and we were on own, that might be the only reason that we might try a different hotel next time.
