Honua Kai Resort

The staff at the resort are excellent. Especially the bellmen out front, they were very helpful with any request we had. The location is awesome, we saw whales in the ocean every day either from the beach or the lanai. Would recommend a partial ocean view at least to enjoy the full Hawaiian experience.

Wonderfull Vacation on the Beach

This was our second stay at the Honua Kai Resort and would definitely make this another vacation location. There is a great beach walk way right on the beach that's perfect for a morning or evening walk.

Hawaii at it's finest. Our best trip yet!

The hotel is gorgeous and clean. It felt more "authentic Hawaii" with protected grounds of natural plant life right off the beach. Pools are more blue lagoon style rather than typical pools. We have been to Maui 4 times and this was our favorite trip, and a big reason for that is due to Honua Kai. We have stayed at Marriott and Four Seasons in past. Awesome terraces with full retractable glass wall. Great market inside hotel with variety of gourmet food and great coffee. It is about 8-10 minute drive from Whaler Village. It was handy having all appliances. Highly recommend upgrading to partial ocean or full ocean view. We woke up to huge rainbow over ocean our first morning. Duke's is phenomenal for breakfast! This resort will have it all when spa is complete.

Honua Kai Resort & Spa - great for families

After searching a long time for the right hotel on Maui that still had a price affordable to me I found the Honua Kai. I stayed 1 week with my family (wife and 2 kids) and really enjoyed our stay there. The hotel is very nice, very new but still has the Hawaiian flair. The kitchen is great and well equipped. The pools are great and the entire complex is a Hawaiian dream. The beach is also awesome. Just by a snorkling set (in the supermarket across the street) and swim a bit out into the sea. You will find yourself swimming in an aquarium with coralls and all kinds of fishes. Bottom line i highly recommend this hotel. Especially when you have kids this will be a great place to stay.

Wonderful!

Beautiful new resort with large spacious and well appointed rooms, friendly staff, and amenities that rival other brand name resorts/hotels, all for a reasonable price. I would definitely recommend Honua Kai, a great resort for both couples and families.

Two weeks with friends

Twp couples sharing a 2 bed 2 bath unit couldn't have been much more comfortable. Enjoying a mai tai on the lanai, watching the plams sway in the trade winds while a sailboat glides past on the sea beyond, yet so quiet and immaculately maintained despite the scurry of guests. The facilities were so well-conceived, the staff so friendly and responsive, the feeling quentisential Hawai'ian. Each room was a santuary - we couldn't tell if the other couple was awake or not, even from the common areas. The only difficulty was in the green appliandces, which took effort to make function well - especially the clothes dryer. Yet, the household staff cordially helped us cope.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

On Dickenson Street in Lahaina is a business, Take Home Maui, that facilitates ordering pineapples and more for taking home. You can meet your package at the airport, fully inspected, and it checks in for free to fly home as luggage! They also have a deli bar for lunches and snacks.

Wonderful!!!!

This hotel was amazingly beautiful, staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The grounds were beautiful...my only complaint was there were too many small children in the pools...it would be nice if there was an adult only pool!
