great location

Would recommend Sun, Jun 8, 2008
Papakea Resort is an ok place given the price we paid for. The best snorkelling place and fine dinning are within 10-15 minutes driving. There is a grocery store and places for breakfast across the street; an ABC is also nearby. We had an ocean view one bedroom unit and were very disappointed about the view of ocean; it's not worth the extra money. Have an ocean front unit if you spend a lot time on the resort, otherwise a garden view unit is more than enough. The unit is old and the sofa bed is very uncomfortable. Amenities in the unit are very basic. The ground area of resort is well maintained with a beautiful pond. The sandy beach is only there when the tide is low; all the loung chairs are set above the sea walls. Snorkelling in front looks rough although best places to snorkel are not far.

Dining

Lahaina is a 10 minutes drive away with tons of restaurants.

Papekea is an older resort, but well maintained. It is a good value for the price, the grounds are beautiful and the staff helpful. Just wish there was airconditioning throughout the condo. It was limited to the livingroom.

Loved the location! Easy access to everything we wanted.

The Papekea was great! The one bedroom was larger than we expected and very comfortable. Loved the daily maid service/towel exchange. Daily supplies of shampoo, lotion and conditioner will keep us from packing these items next time, making more room to bring back island treasures! :-D The room had it's own washer and dryer and with that convenience, packing will also be much lighter next time. It was really wonderful and the property is gorgeous. Workers are constantly improving/updating, keeping units in tip-top shape. We could walk to the grocery store (across the street); or walk about 5 blocks to the farmers market every Mon/Wed/Fri. Perfect, perfect, perfect!

Very Relaxing Location

Would recommend Sat, Apr 19, 2008
ResortQuest at Papakea stay was wonderful for our family. We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit, that also had a loft. It was perfect for our family of 6, as there were two queen size beds, and the loft had two twin beds. The unit had recently been updated to include granite countertops in the kitchen and baths, all tile throughout the kitchen, dining and bath areas, and new carpet in the bedrooms. All the units face the ocean, and our view was great, looking over the pool, palm trees, the beach and the Pacific, with Molokai in the distance. We even saw some whales from our lanai the one morning. The maids came every day to clean up. The kitchen had everything in it for our meals, and there was even a starter of soap for the laundry that was in a hallway closet. Overall the condo was a great place to stay in Maui.

Shopping hint

Across the street from the front of the resort is a shopping center that includes a full grocery store, gift shops, coffee shops, and family restaraunts.

Perfect Hotel

Would recommend Mon, Feb 18, 2008
We can't say enough good about this hotel. It was a wonderful place. We had all the comforts of home with a full kitchen & washer & dryer. The view of the ocean from our Lanai was spectacular. The gardens were very well kept. The pools & hot tubs were great. It was close to Lahaina where we like to shop. About a mile down the road is great snorkeling. We really enjoyed our stay here & would stay here again in a heartbeat.

My review of ResortQuest at Papakea Resort

Would recommend Sun, Feb 3, 2008
The hotel grounds were beautiful and well kept. We booked a one bedroom oceanview room and were upgraded to a two bedroom, 2 bath unit. We had a beautiful oceanview. The room itself, was very 70's styled, popcorn ceilings, dated rattan furniture that was not very comfortable. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you would need to cook meals, which we did very little of. I liked the fact that the hotel did not charge for parking or any additional daily resort fees, that many of the larger hotels charge. I would probably visit there again, but would upgrade to an ocean front room.

Entertainment hint

There was a grocery store across the street from the hotel, which was very convenient. They are open 24hrs. Not a lot of restaurants close to the hotel. Lahaina was only a few miles down the road, with lots of restaurants and shops. Expect to pay $10-$20 for parking though.

My review of ResortQuest at Papakea Resort (formerly Aston at Papakea Resort)

Would not recommend Tue, Nov 13, 2007
The outside appearance was great, but the inside of our room was very dated.? The carpet was very dirty and it appeared that the room had never been updated.? We were very disappointed with this room and would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Dining

There were a few restaurants within walking distance.

The room was very clean...the staff was very friendly and the view was awesome!! we were very satisfied with our whole stay!! The hotel is located right next to the ocean...a grocery store and many food outlets. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. we would like to return...but for TWO weeks next time!!

Shopping hint

No need to spend alot of $$ eating out...the grocery store is in walking distance and the room has a full kitchen and there are barbequers located by the swiming pool.

Beautiful grounds

Would recommend Fri, Jul 20, 2007
The condo grounds were beautiful. Everything was very nice. The only problem was noise. Our room was near the driveway and the trash truck and construction noise were very loud, especially before 6am. Otherwise, I would highly recommend the property. It was by far the most beautiful, peaceful(except for noise mentioned above) and uncrowded of all the properties we visited.

Attractions

Snorkeling right out front of the property. Miniature golf, tennis, shuffle board and a pool/spa on the property.
