Alive again
Very Pleasantly Surprised
We went surfing, ziplining and shopping. Which were all set up by the conciege,(Dawn) she was very helpful and had a great personality. We stayed in 3 different rooms because we did a up- grade and then stayed for another day. All the rooms were different and we loved two of them and one was okay. They had kitchens in two that we really liked and very clean and comfortable. Beds were comfortable. The place is very homey , and the restaurant on site was very good at a resonable price. The only thing is you paid for internet and parking but if you didn't have your own computer and used theirs they charged by the minute, I thought that was included in price.

Rent a car it is well worth it, to explore the island and to get to other adventures on the island. Even though there is a trolley to some of the places, its pretty easy to get around in the car and you can find free parking in most places.

Retired from trade showing
Aston Maui Kaanapali Villas
Territorial views were great. The studio was spacious and very clean and up to date on all levels. Maid services were efficient and complete. I have never had a maid put dishes into the washer and start it at other resorts. They were doing some renovations on another building, but it was not so distractful when the windows were kept closed. The Castaway Cafe had great service and reasonably priced menu offerings. The food selections were very filling and delisious.

If you are into snorkeling the reefs and the beach at Mile Marker #14 -about 12 minutes south of the resort are right outside your car and the fish is pleantiful. This is also calmer water if you have young children than one of the three bays on the North Shore region. And the best part is that it is FREE.

First trip to Hawaii
It was our first trip to Hawaii. Booking the whole package (Flight-Hotel-Car) with [...]was very easy and convenient. [...] even send a reminder two days befor the trip. I recommend to use Hawaiian airlines direct flights from Seattle because of their departure and arrival times. You do not need to get up very early in the morning to catch the airplane and you'll still have enough time to get to your hotel and swim in the warm ocean. Hotel was good. There are studios with kitchenette. But better to ask for the second floor for more privacy. we had a "garden view" studio which faces the second swimming pool. There are studios also facing the main pool, but it is too noisy. Kaanapali beach is huge and is very good for morning running and evening stoll. It is also has a good shaded areas so that you won't get sun burnt the first day. We checked several hotels in the area and beaches and found that location of our hotel (Austin Maui Kaanapali Villas), it ammenities and service is the best you can find. This is of course if you cook for yourself. The hotel restaurant has a limited menu and there are much better places to dine in Lahaina (15 minutes drive from hotel). I highly recommend the "Pacific 'O" restaurant. Food is excellent! It is pricy though. There are other hotels in the area which can offer you more luxury. We took a drive to Hana and on our way we stopped at the botanical garden (higly recommend), at black sand and red sand beaches (red sand beach is tricky to find) and also stopped at seven pools and took a hike to the waterfall in the national park. Start early in the morning if you would like to cover all this. We also took a horseback riding to the bottom of the crater. It was a very unique trip. I recommend it only if you have some horse riding experience. Two hours down and two hours back is tiresome for novice. We were using a book "Maui revealed" by Andrew Doughty for planning our daily trips at Maui and for finding and checking good snorkeling beaches. We followed the book guiddance and all recommended beaches were excellent for snorkeling. I like most of all the "Black Rock" which was within walking distance from the hotel. It was our first exposure to Hawaii (Maui) and we'll go there again.

Fanastic frontdesk service
Service: After an almost entire day flight, I was certainly out of my mine; therefore, I booked the hotel at wrong day. The front desk lady was very friendly and she solved the problem efficiently. It was a relief for me that I knew i would have a nice and clean hotel night after the long flight. Restaurant: we only had breakfast at Castaway Café. Food was mediocre and slightly overcharged but it was a convenient location to have BK to start your day. Room: Nice and clean; exactly what I am looking for as always. Generally speaking, it's a good experience to stay here.

Nice hotel, lovely beach adjoining
My husband and I spent 5 nights at the Maui Ka'anapali Villas, and were not disappointed! The hotel room is nicely appointed. The hotel has two pools, a really nice cafe, as well as a spa. The crowning glory of the hotel is the strip of beach in front, which boasts of one of the nicest reefs for snorkeling! It is not crowded like Black Rock, but provides ample sights. We saw numerous fish, as well as two turtles while snorkeling there! The staff at the hotel were uniformly pleasant and friendly. The only downside is that the place is overrun with families with kids, which might spoil the mood for some, but only added to the charm for us.

Convenient location, mediocre service
Pros: - Beach access is excellent - Premises well maintained - Close to Lahaina harbor, grocery stores, etc Cons: - Poor reception upon checkin. The person in the front lobby was hardly receptive. We had been to the same place 9 years ago, and at that time it was excellent. This time, they gave a cold reception, totally lacking enthusiasm. - Poor housekeeping. Often beach and/or room towels were not replaced. There was an occasion when coffee was not replenished. The telephone hot keys werent working and I had to ask them to be programmed. - The AC vents were terribly broken and out of shape. - WIFI would keep getting disconnected, especially with the iPhone (occasionally with the laptop).

ABSOLUTELY AWESOME
The villas are a great place to stay,beautiful grounds,facilities. We got a studio/garden view and parked twenty feet from our door and very private. you can get ocean view but then not so private with everyone walking on beach in front of your patio. Units have full kitchens with everything, and bbq area with gas grills so you can cook at "home". This was our fourth stay at the villas and would never stay anywhere else again. The private beach at the villas is rated the highest on Maui for snorkeling /scuba/fish.Beautiful coral reef /tons of tropical fish as close 20 feet out. Black rock is at one end. [...] the manager is A AWESOME HOST. Especially for a family you can not beat this awesome place. I would warn everyone be careful of the airline you select to get there, we have had serious issues with all major airlines EXCEPT HAWAIIAN AIR which does set the standard. They only fly from west coast unfortunately. There are 3 grocery stores within a few miles of the villas, Safeway,the times,food mart but you REALLY need to bounce back and forth between all of them for sale items. Groceries are outrageous but picking sale items are just as inexpensive as home{midwest}

Go to ABC stores and get the book "Maui Revealed" it tells you where all of Maui's hidden natural treasures are. Most all excursions were a disappointment and overpriced. Get a car and the book and you're set. We dove with Maui diving and scuba right behind the shell gas station at Lahaina which was the best value for anything we've done there. Also the trip to the national park at Hana seven pools and waterfalls is a trying experience but one you will talk about for the rest of your life, start out early for this trip!!!!!

Wonderful for families
Construction was still going on during our stay in November. However, the noise was not a real problem. The kids enjoyed the pool and access to the airport beach area was only a few steps away. The staff was very nice and we especially appreciated the effort made by Stephanie to move us into a room with a lanai after a few days. The house keeping staff was great and much appreciated.

Kannapalli Villas, some good some not
I was not informed that the hotel was in the middle of a remodel! There was a front desk and that was about it the small store was closed as were the rest of the front area. My room compared to my Brothers next door was a night and day difference.Ours was very dated with some attempt at refurbishing. Needs complete remodel #620. Staff was good. The cafe was nice.
