Great value

Comfortable, clean, friendly, but most impressive location & incredible ocean view from room. Well built condos vs.hotel rooms. Never heard one door close, a commode flush from another unit or others talking through the wall as often experienced in hotels. No on site dining which was just fine for us. Nice grocery store also conviently located within a few blocks. A most enjoyable stay. We hope to return to Maui in the future, and our first choice for accommodations will most definitely be The Aston Mahana at Kaanapali!

Teddy's Bugers across the street from The Canary on way into Lahina. Have never imagined a burger with a slice of pineapple, jalapeño & carmalized onions! Their menu is most creative & absolutely delicious!

we love maui

Literally right on the beach. Walk outside your door and you can either sit poolside or walk 10 steps to sit on the beach. Great snorkeling, great restaurants and shops. We have stayed here before and loved it just as much as the 2nd time. Feels like we have the whole place to ourselves. Never crowded in the hotel, or on the beach right in front. Great location if you want to drive from the hotel to do other site seeing. The lanai is the best part! You can sleep with your door open and hear the waves crashing all night ;)

Great Location

We enjoyed the view and sound of the ocean through our sliding glass door. The convenience of a full kitchen and A very comfortable bed. We were able to enjoy some great snorkeling right in front of the hotel. And reserve the tennis court, racquets and balls each day. Within walking distance of the grocery store and places to each.

5-days of Hawaiian bliss

The Aston Mahana at Kaanapali is centrally located and is just 15mins away from some of the best spots/hangouts in West Maui. The biggest highlight about this hotel is that all rooms face the ocean. My wife and I stayed in a Studio w/ Queen bed on the 10th floor. We checked in at night and the next morning, when we opened the large glass patio doors we were blown away by the fabulous view. The hotel is about a 100 feet away from the ocean so we could hear the waves at the 10th floor even with the windows shut ! We spent the entire morning in the patio (which is rather spacious and furnished with a glasstop table and chairs). The room itself however was'nt something to write home about. One wall was completely covered with glass, which my wife fell in love with. Other than that a very old sofa, old mattress with stiff pillows, unattractive upholstery, a prehistoric 15" CRT TV with an even older VCR and Playstation2 fill the room. The kitchen is filled with ancient stuff too.. stained coffee machine/laundry machine/fridge and silverware. The 2 closets are pretty spacious and are equipped with hangers that you can take off the rod, which Im a fan of (some hotels have attached hangers which really irks me). The press-iron and table are from the same era as the rest of appliances. The press-iron was disastrous and would have certainly stained my shirt had I not checked the bottom plate. The restroom/showerroom was pretty small and were separated from the closet area by a wooden sliding door which was in terrible shape. We faced no problem with water supply and were pleased to get hot water when we had to leave at 4am to catch a flight. The staff & service crew were helpful.. no complaints here. The concierge was very helpful and knowledgeable. She tried to sell us a timesharing session like any other concierge would, but otherwise she was pretty frank in mentioning which tours/attractions are worth the money and which are not. (we took a tour that she recommended against and realized she was spot on in her evaluation). We dint get into the pool but comparing with the nearby hotels.. this certainly is something that needs a facelift. Overall.. the Aston Mahana at Kaanapali is a good place to stay if you want a great view, central location and dont care so much about the interiors. We stayed in Maui for 5days and spent a lot of time outside.. so we dint care much. For vistors who will be spending a lota time in the room.. this may not appeal to you. I wouldnt give it 4stars though.. my 2 cents.

Not recommended

We just returned from our vacation in Maui. We stayed in unit #807 and it was satisfactory. The only problem we had was that the DVD player in the living room did not work, they promised us a replacement but they did not deliver it. Our friends stayed in unit #909 and it was terrible. The living room was extremely hot even though the air conditioner was on. The TV remote controls did not work. The decor in this room was dated and the walls needed a paint job. The office staff was not helpful. When we checked out, we were charged for daily housekeeping services. Our understanding was that we only get charged for the days that we used the services so we requested only 2 days. The person who checked us out couldn't careless and charged us for the 7 days anyway. The only good thing about this property is that the view from our rooms was fantastic and it was at a good location. We would NOT recommend this property at all.

Good location with amazing ocean front view but front desk....

This is good location hotel with amazing ocean front view. However, it might be some problems with the front desk at night. If you have problem at night, there is no one can help at front desk. That is why to be sure you can solve your problem by yourself. Room is clean. Beach is perfect if you like water activity, book this hotel. You will love it. Be sure the sea wave once you jump into water. There is a supermarket takes 3 minutes via drive. It is easy to get everything you cook there. It is good for honeymoon. Not recommend to family with kids.

Mahana at Kaanapali

Its at the very end of Kaanapali so there is a lot less kids and it is way more quiet. Lounge chairs were always available. Turtles were swimming in front of the hotel all 7 days we were there. Short Drive to Kapalua and Lahaina and Whalers Village. Amazing value.

Rooms

Our stay here was nice, it is in a good location, however the rooms seem to be hit and miss on cleanliness and updates, some rooms are in definite need of updates. The beach out front is great for snorkeling but you will need to go somewhere else for good swimming as it is on a reef. The staff were all friendly and helpful.
