Good value on the Big Island

Condo had all the necessities. Lovely kitchen with all we needed to make a few meals while we were there, including a shared gas bbq on the grounds which was very clean and well lit at night. Furnishings were standard Hawaiian rattan look alike that you find everywhere. Comfortable. Bed was a little soft for me, but I like a super hard bed, so probably would be fine for most. Plenty of closet and drawer space for two, probably work for four also. Decent bathroom (could use a better shower head). No ocean view from most apartments (but then we didn't expect that for the price). Parking is in a central garage but you can pull up nearer the condos to unload. We were upstairs, no elevator. Air conditioner worked great. Good location for touring. Not too far from town (need to drive), but far enough not to feel crowded. All in all a good value for a stay on the Big Island. It's a time share, and we attended a short presentation on sites to visit around the island (voluntary but very helpful) on Monday, and were invited to the standard 90 minute presentation for goodies but declined. Other than a door tag on Tuesday reinviting us to the sales presentation, we had no other attempts to sell to us. Quiet area, but we were there at a lull between Labor Day and Ironman. Did not try pools, too busy in the ocean!

Great Location

The sofa and chairs were uncomfortable. Why would you have outdoor slippery/plastic fabric on indoor furniture? It was a miserable lack of comfort. If you put coffee in the kitchen, it would be nice to have at least a weeks supply of coffee, filters, sugar and creamers. The $7 a day charge for Wi-Fi was unacceptable. We stayed at another place on the Island that did not charge for this convenience.

An escape from the hustle & bustle

I've stayed her numerous times and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings of the property and the pools as well. There are many smaller pools ensuring that the pool area is not crowded. BBQ grills are strategically placed throughout the property if you prefer the outdoor ambiance. Rooms are spacious, beds comfortable and individual patios for each unit. Stoves, refigerators, dishwashers and carpets have been upgraded. There are sufficent cooking, eating and drinking utensils as well as towels and bankets. The sleeper/sofa is also nice if you have overnight guests. The front office staff and ground personnel are awesom and quickly respond to requests for addtional towels, washing machine, diswashing detergents/s-liquids or other probems. Having said that, there are three things that I didn't like. Upon checkin, you are told to get a parking pass from a gentleman who attempts to have you listen to timeshare presentation......he is persistent---I do not go on vacations to listen to these presentations, regardless of the $100 American Express Card that you get as a reward for spending two hours listenting to another persistent salsesperson who implores you to "buy". The underground parking is a distance away from the units....quite a hike when you return in the evening of dinning and drinking, or a long day of touring. Finally, there are no elevators on the property...if you and your famiy have luggage for a weeks' stay, you can imagine how annoying it is to get everything to the second floor (on the positive side-units on the 2nd floor have a better view of the lush property. I enjoy this place and dispite the three shortcomings I've cited, return year after year to enjoy my escape from the hustle & bustle found in other hotels....

Spacious One Bedroom Unit

Setting was quiet and several pools were available. We missed the opportunity to get to the beach without a rather long walk. The view from our unit also left something to be desired. It was also a further distance from town than we expected (4-5 miles).

Bad Beds

We left for another hotel. Repeated requests for a firm mattress were never met. Original request was made prior to arrival. Grout in kitchen floor was eroding. We were pressed to attend an Island seminar for the hotel that was unsolicited and came prior to our settling in the room after an 8 hour trip.

Great spot near Kona

This is a great location; well south of central Kona but easy to access to both north and south. The facility is lovely with gardens and water features all around. The several pools/spas are convenient, clean and uncrowded. Especially nice was the balcony; we had breakfast and happy hour there each day. Everything was provided in the kitchen and bath. We did buy some better TP. Pool towels were a nice touch. Housekeeping came once during our week; changed towels but not bed linen but that was not a problem. Staff at the office and the concierge were friendly and helpful. We would definitely return.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

A bus tour early in the stay is a great way to see most of the island and decide where to concentrate the rest of your stay. We used Paradise Vacations bus; it was a long day (over 12 hrs door-to-door) but very informative and entertaining. They pick up and deliver right at the entrance to the facility.

Quiet and relaxing

The room was big, clean, and well furnished. No restaurant or bar on site, though. There are no views of the ocean, either. Small pool w/ jacuzzi right outside our back door (bottom level).
