Kona Bali Kai

I arrived after 10 p.m. they did not have the room I booked a Studio with a partial ocean view. I was a bit disappointed until I went across the street to a fully furnished 1 bedroom condominium on the top floor. This was a great place to stay near downtown quiet clean washer and dryer full kitchen it almost felt like home. I would definitely come back hopefully sooner than laterv 9 days was just not enough time in paradise!

Our Stay in Paradise

The Kona Bali Kai is an older complex that shows it age in some ways, but is maintained very nicely. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and had plenty of towels and soap, shampoo, lotion, etc. The view from our oceanfront unit (#412) was fantastic. Great view of Banyan's surf break. A very small sand beach and tide pools were out front. Numerous turtle sightings. Each condo is individually owned and ours was pretty spartan. The owner really needs to update and upgrade. Kitchen supplies were laughable, hardly any pots, pans, and plates. Furniture was very uncomfortable and the bed very old (nice matrress topper though). The bedroom was at the back of the condo and right next to the walk way that was lighted all night. First thing we did was drag the mattress out to the middle of the huge main room next to the double sliding doors and the lanai to take advantage of the sea breeze and ocean noises. We definitely go back but request a different unit.

Not worth the price

Definitely not worth the price (Sad to say). We had a long day at the beach and decided to rent a hotel just for the night, because the drive home would have been too long. The bed squeaked and felt like a cheap sofa bed. The staff was not helpful nor servicable. The next morning at check out it was a different woman who was not working the previous night, and it was as if gossip was going around about me and my wife due to the problems we had with the first lady. Both women blamed the traveling company for not sending the paper work, but I clearly had confirmation after calling them twice. I would never stay here again.

First Big Island Visit

The property is very well maintained but the unit shows its age, especially in the bathroom. Nonetheless, it met my needs quite sufficiently. Great location: close enough to beaches and downtown Kailua but not caught in the midst of the tourist noise and chaos.

Decent place

Fully stocked condo except for washer dryer, full kitchen, etc. Ours had a partial ocean view which was awesome. Thin walls/floors, can hear the people above easily. Close to Magic Sands and Kahalu'u beach parks. 2mi to Kona town on Alii, easily doable with bikes, otherwise have to drive. Magic sands is walkable, unless you have a big cooler. Overall, nice place, especially if you stay a week and wanna cook your own food routinely. Also good value at ~100$ per night

kona

the location is good but the hotel is very old. The so-called free breakfast is very limited. Only bread and coffee. Anything extra you have to pay.

Adequate and comfortable.

The condo was pretty much what we expected for the price. It was adequate in terms of furnishings and the kitchen had everything we needed. We stayed on the mountain side which was much less expensive but we could walk across the street and see the fantastic sunsets and watch the surfers.

Depends what building you're in...

Average Condo...depends what building you're in. We had a 'partial ocean view' whuch meant LOTS of road noise from Ali'i drive. Older facility...needs some improvement but staff was efficient and helpful.
