Very Satisfied with Sheraton at Poipu

[...] We're Starwood members and know you can always count on clean, friendly, great resorts. The location is beautiful and physically ON THE BEACH - great for families with kids as the waves were not big here and the pool has a slide. We were here just for a quick trip for a family wedding, but would come back with the kids ages 6 & 3. We went economy style with Garden Terrace room - super nice, lanai and quick walk to resort main, spa and pools. As most resorts, they try to nickel & dime you, but just stay no... the resort fee here is $20 per day which is average, free & plentiful parking and you can walk to local restaurants and sm grocery store. The location is great for those who like to go see stuff - we're really not sit by the pool people, unless the kiddos are with us. So we explored the southern part of the island one day and the North, the next - not too far and great road trip with beautiful sites and small towns to really "experience" Kauai. Hope this helps someone - we were really happy with resort and the price. - Mahalo!

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

Pick up a loaf of fresh bread from one of local bakeries a chunk of nice cheese- Fontina was good, a bottle of wine and a couple containers of mango and papaya and drive up to Hanalee or down to Hanakee - both adorable, beautiful towns to have a cheap, but romantic picnic.

Great vacation

Perfect location. Staff was very attentive to requests. Cabanas available to rent on the beach, would be nice if they were complimentary for at least 1 day per stay. Liked the Oasis and The Point restaurants but Shells did nothing for us. Over priced and not very good.

hotel review

The $20 per day per room charge was kinda high since we didn't use the fitness center or other things that came with the price. The food and drinks were rather expensive, but the food was good.

Walking a minute from our hotel room to the beach, which was fantastic, was a true highlight. The location is ideal with excellent scuba and snorkeling nearby. Loved this trip.

Kauai Sheraton May 2010

Location and staff difficult to beat. Nice shops and good eating within a 5 minute walk. On site dining and bar are very good if pricey. Great prgram for green stays that includes a pass for breakfast buffet (excellent).

Awesome Experience

Great hotel. stayed in a ocean front room on 2nd floor and had a huge balcony. Rooms were clean and well kept but a little dusty on the walls. Hotel concierge were very welcoming and knowlegable of the island and gave you maps. Beach was big and not packed. Enjoyed an ATV tour which was awesome. Bring clothes you can get dirty in and swimsuit you don't mind tossing if u can't clean the dirt out. Get to swim under the waterfall. I wish the hotel had more on site variety of dining but there was plenty of other options within walking distance(maybe four or five blocks)

Great Beach!

The resort was very clean, the grounds were beautiful and the staff were very friendly. The beach was amazing, great for swimming, boogie boarding, surfing and playing in the sand. The location is where you want to be in Kauai, a quiet area, but with access to all you need. Lots of restaurants in the area, even a Starbucks 2 minutes away in the Poipu Shopping Village. The weather is also the best on the South Shore. Nice and sunny! The only down side were the hotel restaurants, they were showing their age and were overpriced for the quality of food.

We did the doors-off helicopter tour of the Napali Coast with inter-Island Helicopters. This is a must do! It was the most amazing experience. Worth every penny. We would also recommend renting a car for the duration of your trip, it is the best way to see the island.

Beautiful location Great Hotel

The hotel was very clean. The garden view and partial ocean view are part of the old hotel; which isn't very sound proof. The newer buildings are much better with noise. There was a $20 per day resort fee that would have been nice to know about.
