Perfect week in Paradise

We booked a Gold Floor room and it was well worth the additional expense. The incredible level of service started when we arrived at the valet they asked our name and immediately knew who we were and that we were staying on the Gold Floor. We bypassed the regular registration desk and were brought right up to the 6th floor Gold Floor for a private check-in with the Gold Floor concierge. Whatever we needed it was a simple request and it was taken care of. The moring breakfast and afternoon canapes and drinks were perfect. The only thing that would make the Orchid better would be to improve the Spa faclities. The massage huts near the water falls are amazing and very relaxing, but the "locker room" facilities of the spa need to be upgraded to make it a truely world class Spa. We will be going back to the Orchid, and hopefully soon!

Dining at Cafe Pesto was one of the best meals we had while on the Big Island. It seems more like a local place, although obviously tourist do go there. The food is very good and prices are very reasonable.

Love this hotel and property

From the moment we walked into the lobby, our vacation was perfect! The staff, hotel and grounds are wonderful. Every one of the hotel employees was friendly and helpful. The rooms were updated, clean, and had very comfortable beds. I would definitely come back for another vacation. I highly recommend this property for a relaxing get away. You don't even have to leave the grounds for anything...it's all right there. We went to the King's Gathering Luau, and were blown away by the delicious food, and excellent entertainment. It was the best luau we've been to in the islands (and we've been to lots of them). And again, you don't have to leave the resort to see it. Wonderful place!

The breakfast buffet in the Orchid Court is fabulous! They have a wonderful selection of fresh fruits, island cuisine, and omelete station, not to mention the freshly baked pastries. It was a delight to get up in the morning and walk to such a wonderful breakfast!

Wonderful Stay

The beach here is wonderful. Although on the small side, it was never crowded. It was very protected so even on rough surf days we were able to snorkel and see colorful fish and even swam with turtles! The hotels is great with beautiful gardens, tranquility and was never loud or crowded. A very peaceful, relaxing oasis in north Kona!

We wanted a high end Island resort experience and taht is what we got. Great resytaurants & staff. Due to economy and off season -- we had the resort to ourselves -- very low ocupancy the first five days -- expolre the island from our base at the hotel -- yet had several on th beach or by the pool days to relax. We had several high quality spa experiences.

Great Vacation

The resort had a lot of fun activities at the beach including snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, and surfing. I recommend getting an activity pass there if you plan to stay at the beach for a couple of days. Make sure you snorkel so you can see the fish and endangered green sea turtles. The pool was refreshing and the service was excellent.

Lovely escape!

Located in Waikoala, which is about an hour north of Kona, it's located at a nice area between Kohala (north Big Island with mountains), and Kona. The hotel is beautiful, and there are numerous activities, like canoing, snorkeling with turtles, and luaus. The food is also very good. Located very close to Waikoala Beach Drive, where there are other shops and food options. Rooms are very comfortable. The compound is open and breezy and the staff is helpful. A perfect place to get away from it all!!!
