Hapuna Beach

The hotel was beautiful and over looks the beach. The staff at the hotel were as fabulous as the scenery on the Big Island. We went horseback riding in Waipo but would have preferred going to one of the ranches. The golf course was tricky but challenging. The only complaint I have about the hotel is that it is so big that it could take a few minutes to walk to the elevator banks so we requested to have our room changed. The hotel staff was very accomodating with letting us move our room.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

There really was not alot to do at night on the resort so we went down the little town for dinner a few nights. Just be prepared to lay back and relax because the nightlife is almost non-existent.

Excellent location

The hotel has a great location with an excellent beach. The staff were very friendly and helpful. However, we arrived on the evening of Christmas Day and did not have reservations at the hotel for dinner. They were very unorganized, and had a long line of unhappy guests waiting to be seated for the buffet with empty tables everywhere. The food was well prepared and plentiful when we were finally seated.

Favorite vacation spot

This was my third visit in the last 9 months. Love this hotel. I can afford to stay at a higher end hotel but why? It's located at the best beach on the island. It has a large, relaxing, infinity-style pool. Staff and service have been great. Caution during winter months re: heavy surf sometimes up to 12-15 ft. In general, it was about 3-5 ft which was great for bodyboarding. It's usually very calm during the summer months.

Beautiful place

The perfect location for a relaxing vacation. Beautiful beach, beautiful location. Relaxing. Away from the crowd and the cities. The kids have to entertain themselves, though.

Lovely and relaxing

This is our second time to the Hapuna Beach Prince. It's so lovely and relaxing. The grounds are very nice as are the rooms. Although the rooms on either side of us were occupied (I think), I barely heard a peep from any neighbors. The housekeeping staff also seems to be very quiet, or else they came along our corridor after we left our room (around 9am usually), because I never heard them, either. I really appreciate that! The pool and beach are great. The only thing that seemed lacking was a choice of places to dine at the hotel. It was either a very cheap to-go meal (at the Cafe), or a farily expensive sit-down meal at one of the two restaurants, which were never both open at the same time. So, pretty limited options. Actually, one other slight negative - it was hard sometimes to get from Point A to Point B at the hotel, as the routes can be a little convoluted and may require a fair amount of stair-walking. I like the added exercise and don't mind, although some people might find it too much. Overall, however, if you want peace and quiet and beauty, and a very friendly staff to boot, this is a great place to go.

Relaxing

We loved the semi-isolated location of this hotel. We wanted to relax and this was perfect. It was a 20-30 minute drive to any shopping or off-site restaurant but that was fine with us. We treated ourselves to a one bedroom suite. It was expensive, but worth it. Since our main goal was to relax, one of us could nap and the other could read or watch TV without disturbing the other. The rooms were spacious - especially the bathroom (I loved the bathroom!) - and nicely furnished. I think the only flaw was that when we would first come into the room it had a slight musty smell - like a stale air conditioner. But we just opened the doors and all was well.

Absolutely Beautiful!

The hotel was beautiful! If you are looking for a place for rest & relaxation, this is the spot! If you're looking for an adventure... dolphin swim, parasailing... it's about a 45 minute drive south for all those activities. The drive was worth it for us to come back to a beautiful, peaceful hotel... with a beach right on its property!

Hapuna Prince is a prince of a hotel!

We have stayed at the Hapuna Prince several times and it is a lovely property. The beach is very nice and the location is a breath of fresh air (literally!). The rooms are spacious and they upgraded us (without us requesting it) to an oceanview room. The lanai is large enough to enjoy and we spent several hours lounging on the lanai watching the humpback whales breeching. They have a convenient, inexpensive take out shop where you can pick up a sandwich, pastry, espresso, soup or fruit if you would like to dine casually. Be sure to visit Cafe Pesto and the Seafood Bar just a couple of miles north for good meals.
