A beautiful spot!

Staff helpful; great beach; food at beach bar and grill very good. Other restaurants at hotel too pricey so ate elsewhere. Room view incredible. Hapuna Beach is our favorite on the Big Island. Loved the openness of the hotel w/birds flying around.

Good and nice

Beautiful beach, quiet place, spacious rooms. A bit outdated. My room was far from everything and had to walk from the parking about 300 meters....yes! Very quiet, good golf course. I would recommend it but try to get a room near the entrance because it is a very wide building and there´s no transportation between the towers but your feet.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

To the North side, half an hour you'll find Hawi a very nice little town to stop for a while. Nice Farmers Marketplace. Anothe half hour and finally -this is the pay off- you get to Pololu Valley, a beautiful scenario with a black sand beach.

Good Location poor hotel

I only a view could make happy this hotel would get five stars, but everything her is only for money or not possible. WLAN 25 Dollar a day Airport shuttle no pay by yourself Tours only 2 offers for a pick up from the Hotel Snorkel gear 8 dollar an hour no day charge possible The one restaurant which is open is pricy and not really good. You i felt always that the only want the money and not an happy customer. I would stay their when it is a real 4 star hotel again with service.

Confusing Hotel

The hotel is difficult to understand and to get around in. After much searching I found a little map. Getting to the pool without steps seems impossible, and signage is poor. It was a long way to my room from the front desk. The room itself was very nice, plain but nice. The lanai led to a small front yard with a little ocean view. The only problem was the myriad well-fed cats who were around; I don't like cats. The other problem was that the restaurants don't give you a copy of the bill, so there is nothing to compare with when you get your final bill. Also, they discontinued the shuttle to the Mauna Kea Hotel, their sister hotel,. Since I didn't have a car that was a problem. Lastly, it was a $90 taxi ride to and from the airport, plus tip. To sum it up, I will not stay there again.

Quiet hospitable environment

Perfect location, I could walk from my balcony to the beach; extremely friendly stuff; very clean room, very quiet. The only things that disappointed me were uncomfortable acrylic blanket and some synthetic comforter. It ruined the whole otherwise satisfying impression of my stay at the hotel.

Great hotel!

There aren't many fine sandy beaches on the Big Island, but the Hapuna Beach and Mauna Kea beach really are the nicest beaches we saw. There was public access to the beaches, but people were pretty good at staying away from the resort part of the beach. We went to the Mauna Kea beach/resort, and to be honest, I actually liked the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel better even though it's the cheaper one. The maintenance and customer service was exceptional. Sheets actually were changed daily and everyone was very nice and helpful. When we went to print out our boarding tickets, there were some problems with our flights, but the guy at the business center was understanding and let us use the computer as long as we needed (and come back to print it out after all the issues were resolved). The only negative was that the food was so overpriced and the selection was pretty limited (even including the Mauna Kea). But we took advantage of exploring other parts of the island and cities to find some really great places to eat. We were definitely pleased with our choice in hotel!

If you're looking for a smaller resort

... then the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel may be the ticket. Small pool, restricted (and very expensive) dining choices. I was in a partial ocean-view terrace at the far end of wing 5, sixth floor. -- nice room, although nothing special, with a very private balcony. A rental car is absolutely required to reach anything off-property, including accessing nearby restaurants in Kawaihae and Waimea. There is nothing within walking distance from the resort. In fact, it is around a mile or more to get from the hotel to the resort's entrance on Hwy 270. Well situated for access to nearby beaches. I took diving lessons with Kohala Divers (an excellent dive shop); the added benefit of staying at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel was that the confined water diving lessons were held in the hotel's pool -- very convenient.

Outdated rooms but great service

I was there for a wedding, and am largely satisfied with the experience. The rooms were large and clean, even though the furniture was a little outdated, and service was excellent.
