young baby and family

We had a wonderful time. The views from ocean facing room is very nice. For a calm family vacation, this is a good spot. Golf course is nearby, and you can snorkel on the calm beach every morning. A bit of a drive from the city life of Kona and Hilo, if you plan to spend time there. Volcano is also a bit of a drive.

Great family escape!

This was a wonderful first trip to the Big Island. My daughter and I enjoyed relaxing poolside and catching some body surf in the ocean. Our room was very spacious and comfortable with a nice outside terrace patio! The restaurant, Coast Grill, was fabulous! We also took advantage of the free shuttle to their sister property, Mauna Kea, for the luau. I have been to a couple luaus on Oahu and this luau was superb. The food was excellent and the entertainment was top notch! The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The only negative at this hotel is that you have to pay for either valet or self parking and wifi in your room everyday. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend this hotel!

Hassle-free, last minute beach getaway

We wanted our return trip to Big Island to be about relaxing on the beach, and the Hapuna Beach Prince hotel did not disappoint. Hapuna Beach is one of the nicest on the island and our room was just a few feet from the sand. Rooms are spacious and staff friendly. Restaurants and bars on site are nice, though a bit expensive. Booked as part of a package and thought it was an excellent value.

beautiful but far away from fun

The hotel is beautiful. It is right on Hapuna Beach which was soo nice! Staff was nice and the buffet was good. Expensive @ $26 per person but it helped that children 12 & under ate free. The only bad thing is that the closest shopping locations and the bay that you leave for all boat tours and activities is 30 mins away.

Great Beach

We love the Hapuna. Great beach. Friendly and attentive staff. We've been coming to the Hapuna for over 15 years. Still love it, but the rooms and the facility are getting a bit dated.

Peaceful getaway

If you're looking for a quiet getaway, spacious accommodations, and a picture-perfect private beach with no one to crowd you, this is the place for you. We were surprised at exactly how quiet it was -- the resort is enormous, but relatively empty during our stay (a shame, really-- but all the better for us!). All staff were friendly, helpful, and courteous; the quality of the room far exceeded our expectations for the price paid (having never stayed at a Prince resort before). This beach was one of the major highlights of our trip-- scenic views, clear waters, helpful resort staff to lug out the beach chairs, tables, and umbrellas for you. The resort breakfast buffet offered a wide array of fresh, delicious options-- my favorites were the local fresh fruits and juices, but they offered everything from local granola and danishes to omelets and sausage cooked up on the spot. My only complaint was the number of mosquitos that seemed to get into our room-- we didn't get devoured but I would recommend you request a higher floor anyway. Fantastic experience overall.

fantastic family getaway

True, the hotel is a little dated--but it is very clean and we had a fabulous and comfortable stay here. We are a family of 4--mom, dad, and 2 boys ages 5 and 7. This was a wonderful stay for us. The location can't be beat. The pool is big and simple (no water slides and no deep end--the whole pool is about 4 ft. deep). The BEST thing is the location--it is right on the most beautiful beach on the big island--so it was so easy for us to play at the beach or swim at the pool. My boys were in heaven...which meant WE were in heaven too. The major downside to this hotel is the restaurant choices. The pool side cafe was great--good food, good selection, and decent prices--but it only serves food from 11-3 each day. The other restaurant choices are very limited for younger kids (and non-meat or non-seafood eaters). We ate one meal at the Hau Tree at the Mauna Kea Resort next door--and that was WONDERFUL! Overall, the price (we got a GREAT deal on-line) and the location make this a PERFECT family vacation spot.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

Foodland Market at Mauna Lani shopping center. Has a nice deli area, fresh sushi rolls, fruits and vegies, milk, alcohol, etc. It's about a 6 mile drive from the hotel.
