Location - Paradise!

My husband got a great value for our money. The hotel is on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. However, the hotel is definitely dated! Staff is sometimes hard to find. Food at brunch was very expensive and good but not great. Hot tub (1) was not the correct temperature and too small for the hotel. Nevertheless, overall it was a good value and the hotel itself is very peaceful.

Peaceful getaway

If you're looking for a quiet getaway, spacious accommodations, and a picture-perfect private beach with no one to crowd you, this is the place for you. We were surprised at exactly how quiet it was -- the resort is enormous, but relatively empty during our stay (a shame, really-- but all the better for us!). All staff were friendly, helpful, and courteous; the quality of the room far exceeded our expectations for the price paid (having never stayed at a Prince resort before). This beach was one of the major highlights of our trip-- scenic views, clear waters, helpful resort staff to lug out the beach chairs, tables, and umbrellas for you. The resort breakfast buffet offered a wide array of fresh, delicious options-- my favorites were the local fresh fruits and juices, but they offered everything from local granola and danishes to omelets and sausage cooked up on the spot. My only complaint was the number of mosquitos that seemed to get into our room-- we didn't get devoured but I would recommend you request a higher floor anyway. Fantastic experience overall.

Wonderful Vacation

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel. The beach was spotless and beautiful! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. If you are wanting to sightsee the island, it is a good location as a center base......

Elegant but not pretentious

Booked a terrace room. then for a $10 per night upgrade got a partial ocean view. We were on level 6 and had a view of the pool the beach the grounds and afternoon sun. We enjoyed bird songs every morning for our wake up call. A young ferrel cat befriended us. She is well cared for and was never a pest. The pool is great, the beach is one of the best on the island. Be aware of the $15 per day parking fee. Oh and did you know that chaise lounges can fly? Just ask the pool attendants.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Drive past Hawi to Kapa~au. Have lunch at Minnie's . The best fresh ahi I have ever eaten. The 1" steak nearly covered my plate. It came from a 600# yellow fin caught the day before. Very local, inexpensive.

great location

Very nice gated hotel. Room is big with its own private backyard. Got to see wild turkeys in the backyard, it was pretty cool. Awesome private beach! But make sure to return the beach towels and let them know or else they will charge you without notice.

Breathtaking!!!

This hotel is beautiful. The landscaping is just breathtaking!!! The rooms are spacious and very clean. There is everything in the room for comfort: safe, refrigerator, coffee, robes, blowdryer...could go on and on. The staff are really friendly and will accommodate needs (I asked for a fan and before I knew it, one was delivered to my room!!!). The food was a bit pricy but I guess that would be expected for this type of hotel. Also, the hotel is a bit remote so to get to where there is any action is a bit of a drive. If you like to enjoy quiet and relaxing, this is perfect.

Fantastic Getaway

The quality of this resort is 5 star all the way. The staff is impeccable from the beach to the facility. Very clean and well maintained resort. The location to the beach cannot be matched, some of the cleanest sand and reef I have ever experienced in Hawaii. The pool is the best.

Left the kids at home

If you are looking for a fantastic beach, pool and great views this is the hotel for you. This hotel is on the Kohala Coast of the big island which seems to have perennial sunshine. Be aware that it is 20 miles from the airport. You share amenities and beach privileges with the sister hotel, Mauna Kea, which is 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk away. This hotel is design for those who want to go and spend time at the beach or pool. Not a lot else going on. You have to drive to another hotel or to Kona (30 miles away). There are shops and a few restaurants located 15 minutes away on Waikoloa Beach Drive. We were looking for a quiet Hawaiian vacation and this was perfect. Hotel can be pricey. Rooms vary. There are several versions of "ocean view." We upgraded to ocean front which was awesome but expensive.
