Great Getaway

Very nice Condo, great oceanview from 2nd floor and a super walking beach.(not great surf/swim). Our condo had everything we needed except maybe a few beach chairs to use and an ice chest to take on trips(cheap to rent at location)(and bed was uncomfortable). Good location to travel all over island and into town, except no restaurants to walk too, but nice 'Sand Witch' bar and deli on site. Pool was cool, had dry sauna, lots of lounge chairs so you don't have to sit close to someone( I like some space)

Great base camp

Our unit was very comfortable and clean. The only exception were some dishes (easy to fix) and towels (good that we took one of our own). The location was perfect for us, because we could easily drive to all major attractions (Hana, Haleakala, the South Kihei & Makena beaches, Lahaina...) without any traffic bottlenecks. It's not so good if you want to spend all day on the beach, because Sugar beach is not great for swimming (some rocks in the sand, short beach), and you'll drive to South Kihei all the time probably. Sugar beach is perfect for long peaceful walks, though. Bottomline, a car is a must.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

The Whole Foods in Kahului has a great selection of tropical fruit (unlike Safeway). It's a 15 min drive. Make sure you select the ripest ones.

Good location to stay

This condo located at north side of KIHEI, so you need to take a little time to go shopping or eat out or go to beach at KIHEI area. Except that, it is good location to go anywhere in Maui. There is a walk accessible beautiful long beach in front of the condo. The room has a ocean-view and a free high-speed internet connection. very satisfied.

Quite and Clean

My Wife and I found it to be Really Nice , Clean and Quite. The Grounds were Beautifully Planted and groomed. The Location was very good , Slightly away from the Congested areas. It was mid way from the Places we wanted to Visit. The Beach was good and had Mild Waves, A great place to take young Children . I would go Back again.

Maui revisited

I'm familiar with Sugar Beach, having owned a unit there for many years, so I was delighted to see you offer that as a destination. They have made some positive improvements, but honestly you just can't top a winner! The unit assigned was a great location and showed the owner's desire to make guests happy & comfortable. We made a couple of recommendations in their guest book, but we'd stay there again anytime! The grounds are impeccable, showing much pride in the complex and the attention to fine detail that the groundskeepers make every day. The on the beach location is perfect for daily walks and watching the sunsets. Also, Sugar Beach is so centrally located that it is ideal for travel to any spot you'd like to see on Maui.

Check out Maui Dive Shop for snorkeling equipment and trips. The on-your-own snorkeling at Ulua Beach in Wailea is great. Also, everyone talks about Haleakala, but if the early morning drive doesn't appeal to you, don't miss driving Upcountry along the Kula road to the Ulupalakua Ranch and winery. Some beautiful vistas along that road also. The "Garden of Eden" botanical garden along the Hana Hwy. is also a worthy destination if you don't want to drive all the way to Hana. Options are always nice....

Sugar Beach a delightful stay!

Hopefully this review will help someone in the same situation. I chose Sugar Beach because it had the best reviews for a condo in this price category. I was still worried that since I [...] wasn't picking a particular unit that I might get stuck with a dirty condo.....with a 9 month old crawling around this wouldn't have been good!Check in was smooth. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. They will help you with ANYTHING you need and if they can't help you they will give you someone who can.We couldn't have been happier when we arrived to find a spotless, well furnished room, with everything we needed for cooking, and cleaning supplies for the week. The carpet was so clean I could swear they just steamed it. The room was not old or outdated as I read in some room reviews so I guess we got really lucky. The view was AMAZING!!!!!!! We were in unit 125. You could run right off your lanai onto the beach. I strongly recommend paying extra for the oceanfront rooms it is worth every penny.Sugar Beach has a private company they will put you in contact with if you need any baby items for your stay(i.e cribs, strollers, etc). They are called Wild Wheels Wentals and they are awesome. They brought a pack n' play and high chair directly to our room......once again spotless.....this is very important to most parents. On the day we left we just left the items in the room for them to pick up. They made our stay much easier. We cooked every meal at the condo except for the night we went to the Luau. They have several grills available alongside the beach so you can enjoy the amazing sunset while cooking. First time visitors beware.....it is not an exaggeration....the prices are steep. We are from Los Angeles and the prices were still very expensive to us. We spent about $500 on food and drinks shopping at Safeway and Costco. That was for two adults and a 4 year old.....we brought all of our baby supplies for the 9 month old from home. The luaa at the Wailea Marriot is wonderful and very family friendly. Only about a 20 minute ride from Sugar Beach. The condo appears to have mostly older couples visiting and a few families sprinkled in between. It is a very quiet place so no onsite partying. They do have a bar/deli. You unfortunately are not allowed to buy drinks at the bar and bring them to the pool even if you put them into a plastic cup....not sure why.I would recommend this hotel for families with young children and older couples. We had a really enjoyable stay and will be back for sure!!! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because it isn't really a resort with on site dining, pool service, etc. However if I were comparing to just other condos/time share type rooms I would give Sugar Beach 5 stars. That said......I would not recommend this hotel for young honeymooners that want service and pampering......this is a do it yourself kind of place. There is no food or drink service at the pool. There is a general store on the property but there is almost nothing being sold inside the store, prices are through the roof, and some of the items being sold have dust on them so I guess business isn't great. If you are looking for a full service resort I would try one of the luxury hotels in Wailea
