Ocean not visiable in any room except owners.

I planned this trip for months picking out the hotel that had the least complaints. I loved the hotel but had a emotional breakdown when I could not see the ocean. We looked at other hotels in our price range on the second, third, and forth day. They were not worth giving up Maui Coast Hotel, so we stayed. We had to drive to a nice beach, but if a ocean view is not important you will like MCH. There are two gyms, we used the smaller one to work out in and the private jacuzzi away from the popular pool was nice. It was also really nice to have a restaurant next to the pool. We had to remind staff to leave us water, and coffee often but that is all we could complain about. Free parking, bikes, wash, and water made it very reasonable.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

We bought food at Food land to save money. We recommend road to Hana, Mendez Ranch, snorkeling trip, and dinner cruise. Hope Chapel is a nice church to visit.

Great experience

We stayed there as a part of friends' wedding group and it was a very pleasant stay for us. We particularly liked their shuttle service and bicycle rental service. With the shuttle and bikes, we could explore most of Kihei and it really made our stay more enjoyable. Their building looks new (or very well maintained) and the swimming pool has a cafe attached to it and has a very nice atmosphere. And all members of staff was super friendly and helpfully but particularly Edwin went above and beyond to find me a hair salon, thank you for that!

Maui Trip

Everything was just perfect, my only comment would be that for seniors a car is really necessary unless you happen to be a very active senior. The grocery store was 18 mins each way and if you are carrying any weight at all it is very exhausting with the hot sun added in. Apart from that I would not hesitate to return to this hotel.

Overall just what we needed

This hotel is not overly posh but was clean, we felt safe, and had everything we needed. We spend more time being active on the island and just needed a place to lay our heads at night and this was great. The extra hotel fee was expected so we used the "extras" whenever we could- like the shuttle to nearby locations, the bikes to borrow, we even rented a cooler for $2 for our long day out. Free parking and WiFi were nice too. It's not a luxurious destination, but we didn't plan to spend all our time there. We'd go back.

Vacation

We enjoyed our stay at the Maui Coast Hotel. The staff is AWESOME! Very friendly. The bed was super comfey...wanted to bring their pillows home with me. The only down side was the $17.50 extra charge per day. I feel, they may need to have this fee, but it is steep. Most hotels include the use of pool, tennis courts, etc in their rate.

Good hotel, good price

I booked this hotel for 5 nights and ended up paying for ~$100 per night before tax and amenities fee of $18. I would had been happy with a 5 star rating except I don't recall seeing anything on my reservation mentioning a $18/day charge. It's not a terrible charge, and you get parking, free bicycle rental, pool towels, and WiFi, but I just felt it should had been mentioned. The reservation was for 3 people and we got 2 queen beds, so there is plenty of room for everyone. The location is nice, one block from the beach with beautiful sunsets. There are many good restaurants around and few within walking distance, but don't ever go to Cafe O'le because it's the worst place in all of Hawaii for us.

Loved this Hotel

Our experience at this hotel was wonderful. The hotel was very clean and it was directly across the street from the beach. We found that it was centrally located with several restaurants, stores, and gas stations nearby.

A casual vacation

The bathroom is so small it can hardly let two people in at the same time. The hotel has additional surge of $17.50 plus $0.73 tax per day which covers parking, Internet access, wall safe, pool towels, etc. I did not use most of the services/facilities and therefore felt I was overcharged for what I actually used. The location is convenient for driving to other sites and walking to a variety of restaurants (although nothing fancy). Kihei in the South Coast is not as crowded as the West Coast area.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

Shops at Wailea is an easy drive from the hotel. You can find some Hawaiian local brands which you may not be able to find on continental U.S.
