Low-rise Hawaiian hotel on sunny Kihei beachfront offers extra value
Occupying 28 oceanfront acres on the sunny south shore of Kihei, the Aston Maui Lu hotel offers a tranquil, “Old Hawaii” atmosphere at an affordable price. The low-rise hotel is nestled on manicured lawns beneath the oldest coconut grove on the island, and is fronted by two sandy coves. Recent renovations to the property have refreshed its amenities and rooms, and extras such as free parking increase value. Good place
Nice local feeling from the staff. Slidding door didn't work otherwise everything was ok.

The Maui Lu
What an outstanding view! What the resort may lack in contemporary luxury it makes up for in surroundings and the area. I would definitely stay again. The staff were great and the environment was amazing. No big deal that the resort had no luxury items like a resturant as we planned to be out on the island for most of our stay. But morning were great for whales and a view of west maui.

nice place
we had a nice room iew, but the place itself was very outdayed and it we didnt get lucky with out room view I would not have been satisfied with the place. The service was great though, easy check in and out! good for a place to stay if you not looking for a exotic/ancy place to stay in. For the price it was average!

clean quiet and nice
Overall a very peaceful place to stay. Very clean and the staff is nice. The beds are quite hard though so I didnt sleep as well as normal....

price & location good, cleanliness bad
if you are looking for a place to sleep and nothing else, maui lu is a good hotel. Rooms are not very clean but the lack of quality is balanced by the economic fees. The beach is just in front of the building... but you will need to rent a car: in maui there isn`t any pubblic transport service, and the best beaches are in kihei south and along the street to kaanapali. The only bad things of the hotel are: dirty rooms (but not so much) and no meals (you can find only coffee and tea until 10 am)

Better than we expected!
The Maui Lu was the cheapest option [...] and we arrived expecting a shady, run-down place with a broken shower and an empty pool. This place was great! It is across the street from a small beach, the pool is large and goes to a depth of 9 or 10 feet. Each room has it's own private balcony and we received the daily edition of the Maui News everyday.We had scheduled most of our activities online before we arrived, but the concierge was very helpful in suggesting restaurants, tours, etc. They also hold a luau right on the premises Tues, Thurs, and Sun nights. It's a non-alcoholic luau, which makes it 20 or 30 cheaper than the other luaus. They also suggested some not-so-traditional-tourist options, such as the local maui baseball team, the Na Koa Ikaika and the women's roller derby. The shower was a nice pressure and having a refrigerator in the room was very nice. They also have safes in the rooms that you can use for an extra fee, we opted not to.

The Kihei Cafe is open from 5am-2pm...reasonable prices and large portions of food. We originally went for breakfast (delicious banana macadamia nut french toast) and we stopped back later in the week for lunch.

Wonderful vacation in paradise
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Beautiful grounds and our room was 20 steps away from the beach. Amazing views and the deep pool was great when we needed a break from the ocean. Shops and restaurants are a good 20min walk away. Car rental recommended.

Shops and restaurants are a 20min walk away which isn't bad until you've loaded up on souveniers or had a few drinks and are ready to be at the next destination or back to the hotel.
