Old School Hawaiian
Our room was not only on the beach, the surf broke past our room. Our balcony was sheltered from the wind (it gets windy)and the view was one of akind-awesome. It's not the Fairmount, heck its not the Days Inn but if you are looking for a more traditional type of Hawaiian Hotel this might appeal to you.

Affordable Aloha
My family is in the process of moving to Maui from Oahu and I needed to go ahead to start working and find us a place to live. I mainly needed the room to crash at night, but I also enjoyed the nice and quiet room just to relax in. The rooms are a little dated, but clean and had tasteful Hawaiian decor. The staff was fantastic and the room was very affordable for the area. There was a pool, but I never made it there - looked nice - and the beach was literally across the street! Rooms had a fridge, but no microwave.

not too bad
I read the previous reviews and was somewhat hesitant about staying here. But, not as disappointed as I thought I would be. I always stay at plush condos when I visit Maui. But, since money has been tight I decided to try this place. Here's my breakdown of my experience. There is ample parking and no parking fees. Other hotels/condos charge a daily parking fee. The hotel is right across the street from the beach, so convenient if you're a beach bum, like me. The beaches are not crowded at all, its like your own private beach and peaceful. Stores and restaurants are only couple of miles away. Not a fancy hotel but its affordable especially with the economy. No kitchen but on the bright side, don't have to cook. The property is well-maintained and pretty. I would come back here again. If you're laid back and open minded, pretty good deal for the money. If you're use to the high life, not for you.

Beautiful Grounds make up for the lacks
This was a follow up trip from last year (stayed in a condo last year) a for pleasure trip. While the grounds of this hotel are wonderful (beautiful) open space well manicured and enjoyable. We had garden view and were completely happy with the lanai view. Our room was aged and although kept clean the carpet too old to be clean. The amenities are none -- only one packet of coffee for the entire 4 night stay otherwise charge per packet. (The coffee maker was a little dirty inside); no wi-fi anywhere the first day-and-a-half but after that it was working and is free in the office area but in our room there was never wi-fi service. We enjoyed the stay overall but would be apprehensive returning here unless rooms were first remodeled. We traveled the entire island including the loop through Hana and around the west side too. Horse back at Napili Iron Horse Ranch and also the ECO Adventure Zip Line at Haleakala --- this is a great central location for activities around the island. All-in-all, can't complain about the price but could use some upgrades.

Weekend Anniversary Getaway
Maui Lu was pleasant especially having a second floor room on the beach side! I could see Kaho'olawe from the balcony and it was awesome! We went zip lining at the Ka'anapali Eco Adventures and that was a blast! 8 zip lines in the kuahiwis (mountains) with two fantastic guides; Pete & BJ!! Mahalo for a great weekend away from home (O'ahu)! We'll be back!!

Aston Maui Lu Resort
Our stay at the Maui Lu was good, though it's a pretty old hotel it is on a beautiful piece of property which is well maintained....It has a wonderful pool, and the ocean was just across the street....Not many ammenities, but a very friendly and helpful staff....If you are going to Maui to enjoy the ocean, beaches, activities and shopping and not just sit in your room this is the perfect place as it is fairly inexpensive and offers the basics ie; beds, bathroom, deck, mini fridge....

Maui
This hotel is very beautiful from the outside. It looks like what I would expect a polynesian retreat to look like: buildings evoking thoughts of tree houses, shade from tall palm trees, flowering hibiscus bushes, registration desk in an area open to the outside facing the sun setting over the ocean. All the staff were very helpful and pleasant. The concierge loaned us a CD to guide us on our motor day trip. However, the room we had surely showed its age and much wear. Example: sliding glass door could be locked by the handle, needed to be locked at the floor. Price was right if you are willing to overlook such things and just enjoy the beauty of the place.
